Just got a call saying AC cancelled the show after a Sprint Car driver hit the turn 3 wall head on full throttle. I was told the driver did not make it. This is the only info I got, God I hope it isn't true! If it is true, Gods speed to the family.

one of the hardtest hits that I have ever seen. Dont really know what happened but I would have to guess a stuck throttle. I hope that the driver will make it but it did not look good. They had the sherrifs department out there and had to conduct an accident investigation(which obviously is never a good sign) and that is why they cancelled.

It is my understanding that the driver was Scott Seaton. I believe Scott succumbed to the injuries suffered in this crash.

I have known Scott for years, all the way back to when he first started racing sprint cars. He was a good guy and a very hard worker who went beyond the call of duty to support racing and present himself as a professional to the public. Scott was a good ambassador of sprint car racing.

May God bless his family as they try and get through this tragic loss.

Godspeed Scott.

the driver was scott seaton from around the lansing area. i have attended races for over 40 years and have been to literally hundreds of sprint car races and this wreck would definitely rank in the top 3 worst i have ever seen. the car just exploded like a bomb and parts were flying everywhere. it didnt look real good after it happened and when they shut it down for the night and said they had to do an accident investigation everyone can make there own conclusions after that. until i here otherwise i am still hoping for the best.

Our thoughts go out to him and his family. Its terrible hearing about issues like this.

I do want to say that we do not know and should not assume that a head restraint sytem had anything to do with this.

God how I hate to write this again in just two days, this has to be the worst weekend of racing in Michigan that I can remember. It is tragic enough to lose one driver, but to lose two within 24 hours is , well, hard to comprehend, yet here we are.

Godspeed to Scott Seaton and to Stan Perry. May the blessings of the Lord be with them and to their families during this time.

We here at the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club, The Michigan Legends Series, and the DeHem family send our condolences to the family of Scott Seaton and will lift them in prayer along with the Perry family.

A truly most tragic weekend in our racing community.

Our sympathies to the Seaton family.

May we all pray that no other family in our community has to endure such a burden, and may we all try as we can to lift both families with our prayers and thoughts of and for them.

As one who usually is not at a loss for words, I am at this time,

Godspeed Scott Seaton, and Godspeed Stan Perry,

I can't believe I have to do this twice in the same morning...

Scott Seaton was one of the nicest guys I ever met. Even though I'd only see him a few times a year as the Sprints tavelled through whatever track I was working at the time, Scott would always call me by name, smile, and hold out his hand. I'm embarrassed to admit that many times (if we were away from the car) I'd have to look down at his firesuit for a reminder of who he was. If he noticed, he never gave me a hard time about it, quite the opposite, he always mentioned how happy he was to see me and to be wherever we were.

He always raced as hard as his equipment let him and often climbed out after a top-10, smiling just as big as the winner.

He's racing among the legends now...may he have the front-line equipment he always deserved!

Heartfelt sympathy for the Seaton family and those who were with him at the accident scene.

Bob
