let me preface this post by saying that berlin is my favorite asphalt track and i usually try to go there about once a month even though it is about a 2 hour drive to get there. with that being said though where were all the latemodels and modifieds last night??? i was very disappointed by the 12 car 75 lap latemodel feature and the 8 car 35 lap modified feature. the latemodels were pretty sad as it was mostly just single file and looked more like a hot lap session and the modifieds werent much better either. what has happened on that side of the state when guys like mike root and dakota carlson dont even race in there own back yard. i have heard a few rumors and spoke to some people over there when i go but cant believe that they cant even get a full field of latemodels any more. on the plus side i do want to say that the rest of the races were excellent in the super stocks, pro stocks and even the 4 cylinders were great. i still had a good time but boy would it have been nice to see a few more cars in those 2 classes.

Maybe the rumors are not really rumors.

Berlin has let the spirit of Mod rules get out of had, that is some of the reason for low mod counts, plus the weather was not great around noon and this years tight budget is keeping me from taking any risk on driving 1 1/2 hrs with the chance of a rainout.

Plus by not being there on Fri to qualify, new teams were required to buy 2 tires or race for 1/2 purse and start in the back. Not hard to make the call not to attend. The track is not as racer friendly as in the past, but is still a great place to race, just needs to be more racer friendly as we have other venues we can attend on most nights.

Plus for me, once Kazoo rained out I decided to attend my 40th class reunion.

I do hope to make a couple of the bigger shows this fall.

Don't get used to seeing Super Lates at Berlin unless you are going to watch a Great Lakes Outlaw show....didn't you know, the Super Stocks are the FUTURE of Berlin! The track and facility are the cat's ass as far as facilities in Michigan.....it's too bad what's going on over there.

that is really sad to here how they are doing that to the mods. this class seems to be getting more and more expensive every year and car counts get lower and lower every year. it isnt very often that i even get to see a full field of mods just about anywhere i go now.i remember reading a few weeks ago that there were 4 or 5 asphalt tracks running mods on a saturday night and none of them had more than 12 i believe. i can also appreciate the budget thing to as i know times are tight and people arent doing as much travelling as they used to. and oh by the way dan does that mean we are getting old you had your 40th reunion and my 30th has just passed also.

gee do ya think the promoter has anything to do with it? he got rid of another driver sat. nite just for asking a simple question. had him police escorded out of the pits with no pay and had run all his events. this promoter has not seperated himself from car owner to track promoter. and dont tell me he doesent have money in any drivers car because he has been seen paying bills at pt. city. by the way the question the driver asked was, how come i get blacked flag for ruff driven and your boy doesent? nuff said

Now now, I'm refraining from pointing fingers and naming names....I got a spankin last time I said something negative about MB. But, since you brought it up, who was the driver that got escorted off? I heard a rumor about another driver calling into question whether the Bursley car was legal and he got attacked verbally for it.......rumors, you know how they sprout wings! I heard something at Port City a few weeks ago about MB vs USA Mod official and something about a radio being thrown?

Everyone is being scared off or thrown off the island!

I have no problem pointing a finger!! Mike B is the real problem there and I have alot of respect for Jeff at Dixie for having a problem and bring drivers and owners in the garage, closing the door and saying sorry and airing the problem out! ( I still don't agree with him about Luberta) But that showed class and the show was great! THANKS JEFF! I took alot of heat 2 years ago when I talked about Mikes temper issues, and the issues he had as a car owner, but the anger issues HAVE TO STOP and the special treatment he gives some drivers is a joke!! He will not have a SLM series there next year as all of you are aware of, but in the long run that should help the SLM, for they can go get treated better at other tracks that want them there. (Flat Rock,Dixie, Auto City, Toldeo, Angola, Owosso etc..) If we all as owners and drivers keep going to Berlin, then you get what you get!! Fans need also to look at what tracks put on the best show, and support them!

That's why I won't/can't sympathize with the drivers that remain there and get treated like composted cow manure. They choose to race there so if you get treated badly, it's your own fault for not drawing a line in the sand.

it doesnt matter who the driver was rob. the guy paid his and im sure more peoples pit passes, bought tires, raced the whole weekend and got nothing just for asking a ? that aint right in anybodys book.all the a-hole had to do was walk away but no " its my track and ill do what i want". heard he tried also to short out the pay for the heat races to a couple drivers but heard that it was paid out after it was asked about. step on more drivers and the only one racen at berlin will be his boys. talk about a worthless show.

the guy handing the trophies out was sure proud of the winner of the race that put denny anderson in the wall on the last lap.

No, there will be LM shows, they just won't be a regular division. It will be the Great Lakes Series on a regular basis.

Brad, Stupid Stocks put on a helluva show huh? If you like a weekend wreckfest yeah, it's a blast!

p.w.1951: you are correct, it really doesn't matter who it was as you said, he paid his way to play and then got treated like crap.

I keep hearing rumors about Kyle Bush buying in to the track and all sorts of mumbo jumbo......... I'll believe it when I see it.

Crazy times we live in.....indeed!

No body is buying Berlin, the Fairgrounds owns the property. You can lease it for racing, I think the current deal is through previous lease holders.

J/B on this date of July 27 is not part of Berlin.

This guy with the radio in his pocket Saturday night reminded me of the old Sonny Adams at Toledo. If you old timers remember him.

I was there one Sunday when he had his big body guard beat up on a street stocker right on the 1/4 mile in front of everybody. The guy got out to ask sonny a question and Sonny told this guy to get him.

Yep, seams very simular watching the trophey guy parading around in the pits on Saturday. Having 3 cops kick out a guy in front of the crowd. No wonder there is nobody in the stands and 8 modifieds and 14 late models for a 35 and 75 lap race.

Chet must be rolliong in his grave to see how far the great Berlin Raceway as Fallen!

I realize the fair board owns the track....when we speak of "buying into it" or whatever...we mean the lease to run it.

p.w. 1951: Mike S? If you are referring to Mike Steval, he's been gone since before the season started. You mean KEVIN Striegle....don't ya?

It won't make a bit of difference whether Mike steps down or not, he's still there. I have a lot of respect for Jason Hoogerhyde and wish him well in his new role at the track. Jason will be respectful and fair.

Will not make any difference!!! If Mike still has his hands in it, it will still not be good!! He only now will make the calls from his desk at Boyne! Jason won't last, just like the old flagman he ran off a few years ago and all his tech officals too! Mike needs to get out of racing and let the fair board have it back, so they can find a NEW promotor
