Well another gold star for the Kern Family....they are always making improvements. They have already paved all of the pits...yes no more rocks coming off of pit road...and getting on to the track!!!
They also paved more pits, in the modified/street stock area....no more fighting for slabs!!!
Now...if we could just convince them to put in a score board.

The Kern family is alaways putting money back into the track, improving the track every year. A scoreboard would be nice

Lot's of times companies like Coke will do scoreboards for certain favors. Companies do a lot of highschool scoreboards or atleast part. :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

So, when was the last time that track up the road made any track improvements???? Probably when it was re-paved four or five years ago.
Just another example of why one track is on the up-and-up and the other is on a downward spiral.

I know this is going to sound wierd but here it goes. Is there any way as drivers that we can help one of the only tracks around that actually helps us. I agree dixie needs a scoreboard bad. Fans sometimes have a hard time keeping track and some drivers are curious to how many laps to go and so forth. I had an idea that I didn't think many of us would go for but here it goes. Maybe we could have like a preseason race. Maybe the week before the season starts we could have a no point/no money race. I know, I know, but we could put all the purse and gate money towards a scoreboard. For some of the mod and late model guys I understand that it seems kinda of a waste of money for you. Us, Bomber and Sportman guys can go a few more nights on a set of tires. Mike might be willing to do this, at least it would give a practice and tune up race before the season starts, something Dixie doesn't do normally. I don't know, it was just an idea, let me know if someone has a better one.

I will say it is frustrating at times not having a scoreboard as a fan.more for lap counts than positions.
Should be some around with all the tracks closing

Coke & Pepsi both have co-op funds they use to help pay for some of the scoreboards at football fields, race tracks, etc.

Do racers have enough time to read one while driving? .
Well In my case, I see both sides of the spectrum...as a driver and a crew chief...as far as driving goes...owosso's scoreboard, it was nice to see the laps...and yes you can see them while comin down the front stretch...
as far as a crew chief goes, its good for spotting....
hum...just my 2cents

Not to say anything bad about Dixie, but this was done for another track and in return that track proceeded to screw a lot of racers. I doubt it will happen again, even if Dixie is deserving, all it takes is one person (track) to scrwe it up for everyone.

I know for a FACT that Mike wants a scoreboard too. But, just as he has done with all the other improvements there, he is picky about what he exactly wants. He has shopped for one for a few years now.
You all need to be patient.
Here is a guy who has put back into his track ten fold, and he will get a scoreboard, he knows already, has wanted one for a long time. But first things first. If you don't think that all that paving was more important, go look back a few months and see all the griping going on because he had to pull the plug on a show, when the weather seemed good, but it was because of all the mud that had to be dealt with, that he would have to call it. He's dealt with that for years.
Might not be popular, but scoreboards are a luxury item. They're nice for the fans, and the drivers too I suppose, but are far from necessary, unlike a lot of items.
Give him time, he'll find what he's looking for, and this will be a "WAS".

we are planning on running a full season there we would definetly pertcipate in a first race for free like the other guy said he is trying ot do whatever he can to improve the place. count us in. for all the guys who think this is a waste of time and money ask around he will give it back many times over either in cheap gas or point fund or bonuses or how ever he can. the scoreboard is cool.

Another improvement I would like to see is white lines painted on the track, when you get down in those corners with someone under you, it makes it hard to tell how much room your giving them.

I never find that you can see lines on the track anyways, at least in a super you cant.

I think the best place for a scoreboard would be some place in turns 1+2. It is a long sweeping turn and the drivers might have a better chance at seeing it there. And off of 1+2 it is dead space he really couldn't bulid anything over there where you would want the spectators, unless he could be very creative. Also I think it should be a verticle one and not horizonal.
I think we could do without the lines. I think it is awsome to come back every year and see another sucessful project completed at dixie. Great job Mike and Krista. Thanks for supporting us.
