The season opener at Angola Motor Speedway was a great start for Everage Motor Sports in 2007. The weather was cooperative and the car count was up to around 75 cars. The racing action was great all night long. The fans seemed to be very excited with the return of the super late models for 2007. Brent Jack set the fast time in the super late models, Scott Coe in the Superior Auto Modifieds, Tommy Little for the Napa Street Stocks, and the fast time in the MINI STOCKS went to Darwin Wolfe.

The Mini Stock feature event came down to the wire as Darwin Wolfe edged out Kedrin Holiday on the last lap to take the checkered flag. The next event on hand was the Napa Street Stocks feature. Tommy Little, who set the fast time, took the feature event in good form. The Superior Auto Modifieds feature including 24 drivers was slowed with 14 yellow flags. Leroy Ellis led until he was black flagged for running faster than his qualifying time. That event was won by veteran driver Steve Christman. In the 40-lap super late model feature, some drivers got off to a bad start. Going in to turn one of the first lap, Fred Elkins and Troy Moyer collided which resulted in a series of accidents which left top drivers sidelined and unable to return to the race. With this in effect, Jack Landis took the lead early and never looked back.

Although the racing action lasted almost until midnight, the stands remained packed and the enthusiasm was high. Overall, it was a great night of racing and family fun and we are looking forward to next week’s “$2000 to win Super Late Model” main event. Be there!

How 'bout Tommy Cook hauling in with his #8 SuperPro car. Ran his crate engine, template bodied car against the super lates and got 2nd in his heat, and 7th in the feature!!

Ya AMS doesn't have their complete results posted yet so I didn't know that, but Thanks Ed for keeping the guys in Superpro mentioned.

I was pretty proud of Tom. His dad and I have been friends for 35 years or more, I've known Tom since he was a little tyke. Sold him his first race car, he's sure come along way since that street stock!

While you all may be proud of Tommy, there was at least one driver who was certainly less than pleased with him.. Lets hope that they got a chance to understand each other when the race was over.

But lets not turn this into a fan club thread. Back to the racing at AMS: Yes, it was a good night of action, except for the caution plagued mods. Don't forget that this week the SLMs go 75 laps for $2K! Last weeks good field of 22, um, 21 SLM cars (sorry Godfather) shoudl be even stronger with twice the win money to be had.

Gunner you must be talking about Chad Poorman. I heard there was some helmet throwing going on.
However I do like Chad, he can drive and win with about anything you put him in.
