The first of the trilogy Snap-On 60 races went off Saturday Night at Springport without a hitch.

The weather was fantastic and decent number of cars showed up, a couple of new ponies arrived, including a tow all the way from Fraser.

The VROA Mods put on their normal good show.

The Sportsmen had a solid race and the Pure's put on the best show of the night with the #83 car making a last lap pass after charging from the back of the field with 5 laps left to sneak past the #51 and get the win.

If your track got rained out and you didn't make the drive to SMS, you missed out.

Pat just curious i listened to the pony stock feature how did they regulate what each team did on there pit stop
NO power tools were allowed into the center of the track. Other then that, you could bring anything down into the pits you wanted. The rules stated every car was required to make one green flag pit stop with a minimum of a single tire change. Other then that, you could pit any other time you wanted, green or yellow; and you could do anything you wanted to the car. For myself, we had a head gasket starting to let go. We thought we had it fixed at the shop, but turned out we didn't. We went for the liquid glass fix about 2 hours before race time.. so we didn't get to qualify or run in the first heat. So we decided to pit on the first first yellow to check the over flow bottle. As luck would have it, that happen on lap 1, since we were starting on the rear of the field, we pulled in and the overflow was good. We used a water fire extinguisher to cool the radiator some and went back out. On lap 3 there was a spin out pile up in turn 4; we dove low to avoid it, got into the grass and hit a rut and broke a half shaft ending our night. Must of the cars made single pit stops with a tire change only. A few others added fuel also on the pit stop. A couple of cars had over heating issues and come in for extra water/cool offs. It was a fantastic race.. a ton of fun and I can't wait to do it again in two weeks.

Sounded like it was excitng on the radio and Maurice and the folks over there are thinking like promoters doing things different to bring in the fans especially when your only running 3 classes good luck to you all

It was really cool for the pit team to have a real direct impact in the on-track racing... they play such an important part every week in the set up, but generally are just spectators for the actual race.. These guys were pumped.. high fiving, shouting, cheering.. they were a huge part of this race.. in fact, I'd say that #76's uber fast pit stop won him the race last night.

This was by far the coolest night of racing I have ever done. I have to agree with Pat, my crew definitely did it for me. I only lost 5 1/2 laps in the pits and that was the difference between the win and the loss. Really great to have them play such a great part of the race. This track is awesome and I am looking forward to getting back there again soon. I only wish it wasn't a 2 hour tow to get there!

Darren, it helps that the car was working well Saturday night. Thank you for letting me be a part of your team that night. It was a lot of fun.

Actually the fastest car won the Pony stock race. The 95 and 94 cars both made remarkable 4 to 4 1/2 lap pit stops. The 76 car was the fast qualifier by over 1/4 second. The 95 stayed on the track leading for 41 laps thus collecting the bonus for leading the most laps along with the lap money for each lap. The 76 car was 18 seconds ahead of the 95 at the end of the race. The 76 and the 95 were the only cars on the lead lap.

Congrats Darren. Maybe next time we can have a three lap pit stop and come out ahead! It was a fun night for all of us. Hope we do it again soon.

I didn't mean to say that Darren ony won because he had a faster car.. it kind of sounds that way on re-read, I'm just saying he was fast qualifier and won the race.
