i have a 96 chevy cavalier that is just sitting in my garage. while i could put some cash into it and fix the muffler and a few other things to get it back to street legal; i was think`n about gutting it out and putting a rollcage into and whatever else i need to do and race it at a 4cylinder race? IE: Berlin's 150lap endo race comming up later this year? so simply put, having 0 raceing exp. is this a good idea? or a bad idea? any pointers or help is more than welcome. even if its "bad news"

I would go for it the only problem with an endro is that you could spend weeks working on your car and only make it a couple laps or you could run 150 it's just a matter of luck and some skill. I don't know about the rules at berlin but you probly will need a firesuit, helmet, horse collar, a five point seatbelt set these things are reusable so good luck and have fun

spartan has a few mid '90's Cavaliers that run real good,,,you need to get the gearing in the trans/final drive ratio correct for the track your going to run,,,,

you will have a blst in your four cyl, and you will meet alot of people awesome people, but if you go to autocity make sure your motor appears stock, because they will never open it up , and depending who you are they will over rule the tech guys anyway, oh and when you declare your car tell them it is a 89 mustang when asked where the computer is tell them it is an 84 mustang then when they ask why is there a weber carb tell them it is a 79 mustang, and as long as your cubic inch and compression is right youwill be demed legal lol can you tell im a hostel poster right know sit your wife down tell her she will have a blast and as soon as the bull shit starts she will be throwing left hooks like me too but if you are an honest person and show up to just have fun you will dont worry bout points or politics and if you finish 2 or 3 you won anyways lol okay i have been blowing post up latley , my daughter is 13 in a 4 cyl class she is lovin it she is doin well but unless we teach her to lie , cheat and steal , she will alwyas be 2 or third she says that is okay though as i say this is a learning class if it treat it like so and you and your family will have a blast if you wrap up and decide to go to the dark side and plan vampire you will win all the time and be track champion lol i better get of my finger tips are smokin and my brain is ready for explosion , yes im bitter and i even stayed home sat nite it was the first nite i ever missed her race thank gosh it rained out !i

as of this date the car still sits and keeps going back and forth in "debate" with wife if car should be worked on to make into a racer or fixed into a street legal or just sold outright. maybe buy a car thats already made up or maybe do that car-lease thing (next year?) i dunno *shrugs* only time will tell i supose.

You could also run it a berlin they had 4 or 5 trial races for a new 4cyl class next year. The race manager told me if the last two races are good they will have them as a full time class in 2008. They had 20-25 cars the first three races. The last two races they had 36 and 39 cars each night. The track is a little big four 4cyl i think but it will be a good class to run with to get you feet wet in racing. You can get their rules at www.berlinraceway.com
