Veteran Mike Kugler took advantage of Al Cook, Jr.'s misfortune and and won the "Engineered Systems 75" Bollhoff Rivnut SUPERPRO Series feature Saturday at Angola Speedway.
Cook Jr. and Kevin Todd brough the field to the green and ran side by side for the first five laps until Cook took over the lead. Cook maintained his lead over Todd, Kugler, Jack Landis, and Mark Kortz until Landis fell out of competition with mechannical problems on lap 42. Kugler moved around Todd for second on lap 43 and was followed by Kortz, Tommy Cook and Jason Dietsch.
The third caution flew on lap 51 when it was discovered Al Cook's differential was leaking, forcing the leader from the event. It was smooth sailing for Kugler from that point as he led Kortz, Tommy Cook, Dietsch, Jack Smith, and Rob Buckley to the stripe. Todd held on for sixth followed by Michael Gaier, Derek Bischak, and Justin Kazmar.
Dietsch was the Aluminum Racing Products Fast Qualifier with a new SUPERPRO Angola track record of 14.056 around the high banked three-eighths mile oval. Al Cook, Jr. was the ARP "Hard Luck Award" and Buckley was the All Star Performance Hard
Charger.
The Bollhoff Rivnut SUPERPRO Series moves to Baer Field Speedway in Ft. Wayne, Indiana this Friday for the running of the "International Gold Cup 100." Joining the stars of the SUPERPRO Series will be the O'Reilly Auto Parts USA Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, and Thunder Stocks.
