This thread was hijacked and no longer has anything to do with Owosso Speedway results. Angry drivers over took this, insulted me for trying to ask them to start a new thread for their complaints, so I have taken down the results. Sorry to anyone who wanted them.

Well with Owosso speedway bleeding as bad as it is and cutting drivers pay last night I have decided that I am going to not come out anymore. Good luck to all that continue to support it, but the 37 street stock is done out there.

Does anyone have any idea what the new pay is for all the divisions?

Is it possible that the owners have seen the hand writing on the wall and are going to cut there losses till the years is over and that will be it for them

What about the businesses that gave them money a couple months ago to keep them going for the rest of the year? What happened to all that money? I'm not trying to start anything here, but I heard they got a pretty good handout to keep the track going for the rest of the season, not just a few weeks. Well, yeah, it's been more then a few weeks now, but it's still not the end of the season either. Like I said, just wondering where all that money went.

Mods got cut to I believe $400 to win, $250 for 2nd, and $200 for third. It used to pay $500 to win, $350 for 2nd, and $270 for third.

I could have swore that in the drivers meeting that Dave said, "not this week", but next week for sure on the pay cuts, did I hear wrong?

from what i have heard that the money they got a few months ago was only enough to run the track for a few weeks to kinda help them out to draw more fans out there so the track could stay open. Does anyone even know or realize how much it really cost to run a race track? Do you account for all the payouts for the events, the employee payouts not that they are being over paid too much but it still is a cost. What about the insurance that has to be out of this world and then not lets forget about the electricity. Would someone like to check into what this would all cost add it up. I don't agree with all of the things that they have done around there with the ticket prices, pit prices and the drop in pay with the drivers. I do know that when you are trying to run a business with two people that one of them should be a silent partner and the other should have all the say so. Also when your trying to run a business you need to be consistent and not try to play at the same time. I will hate to see this track close but it's too hard to be around a three ring circus of never knowing what is going to happen next. I feel sorry for the drivers that have gotten screwed every week because no one wants to tech these cars right or everytime. Isn't that their job. Sounds like they were being paid for nothing. Sounds like they should have no rules and just play with what you brung.

If you feel the need to talk about the pay cuts, please, do it elsewhere. This thread was never intended for mudslinging. Sometimes a race track has to do things to stay alive. I thought racing a car was supposed to be a hobby? Shouldn't you be happy to get any money for partaking in your hobby? With gas as expensive as it is, I am taking $30 a week as payment for everything I'm doing.
But, if you want to dirty the name of the Owosso Speedway, please, get it out of this thread, so the people who are curious about the results can get them, without having to wade through the garbage.
I thought that is what a forum is for

, so just where do you want racers to express their displeasure????? happy to get any money? I can tell you have never owned a race car

Everyone has done as much as they can for Owosso.
myopinion, if it makes you uncomfortable that people do not like getting screwed because you wrok there, then you better quit because its going to get worse if this continues.
Under the current owners this is what has changed.
Pit pass prices went up, pit slab prices went up, registration went up.
Pay was promised for a point fund and in the last race of the season was taken away.
The drivers raced for free one night as well.
Qualifying money was taken away.
Heat race money was taken away.
Now the feature purse was taken away.
Dont tell the drivers what they are allowed to talk about, they have every right to say whatever they want.

No you didnt hear wrong. this is exactly what I heard in the meeting and then when I went to the pay window they said sorry we decided to start the pay cut this week due to a light crowd? Sorry to say that when you OWN the track you have to WORK the track, not race on it and beg the racers for help to run it or take a pay cut because you dont have time for the track. I have raced for a while now, and I have only been to owosso 6 times this year and every drivers meeting the ownership has done nothing but tell us how bad it is and how they need help. Well the first thing to do is to help your selfs and that isnt being done with the current ownership.
Sorry for being so blunt/harsh but I have never seen anything like this in all my years of racing. I forsee this track closing its doors for good at the end of the season unless someone with a brain can take over.
On a good note I would like to say nice job to matt puskarich for his feature win.. Now only if some other drivers could race as clean as you.

While I have not raced at Owosso in a few years, I can tell you that any time the track owner/promoter decides to race himself, then that track is doomed to failure, if they want to keep the track open they need to dig a hole and bury their race car, and then PROMOTE the track BE HONEST with the drivers, CUT consession prices CUT gate prices by doing that the stands will fill up then INCREASE purse to attract full fields of race cars, and myopinion if you want to work for nothing thats your business, I wouldnt go around telling people that you work for 30 bucks

MyOpinion,
I don't understand. Let's see, the drivers spend thousands and thousands of dollars for their hobby and you expect them to race for free? That's the way I take your comment "Shouldn't you be happy to get any money for partaking in your hobby." Gas is expensive for ALL of us, not just you. My question to you is, how much do you SPEND for your evening at Owosso? And to top it off, you MAKE $30 doing what you do. Why don't you help out and work there for free? Now, don't get me wrong, I really don't think you should work there for free, I sure wouldn't, that's why I don't anymore, but to think that driver's should race for free just because it's a hobby kinda blew my mind. Sure we all have to do our part, but it still cost drivers money for gas, pits, tires, etc. Do you think they can walk into a gas station and say, hey, I'm heading to the race track, but the pay isn't what it should be, so help me out and cut the gas price $1.00 a gallon for me. What do you think the gas station's going to say? Why is it the driver's always have to take a cut for supplying the entertainment for the night?

It is so much easier said then done. I would shake that persons hand if they think they could get that track back up and running. I do understand the point that the owner shouldn't race and try to run a track at the same time unless he has appointed someone else to do it for him. As for the consession prices that building has been leased out to prime time pizza and it is them that have the high prices not the owners. They need to have a little bit of different shows like dixie does to attract attention and by all means keep the gate prices down so that more people can come out and enjoy the races but in order for people to enjoy races they need car count and that won't happen because of no teching of the cars and the constant rule changes. It deffinetly is sad to see that our own home track is going down hill and to think that we will have to drive further away just to go and see what we simply enjoy. What else is there to look forward to in this town. NOTHING

In my opinion I think that you get paid very well for what you do. Take notes to give to the web guy. Do you and your family pay to get into the races or do you get in free and still get paid to take notes. Maybe you should also take notes on what all these guys are being charged to put on a show for people who wish to come out and watch. Check out the payout for some of them. They would be lucky to get back what it cost them for the pit pass and maybe 10 bucks in gas to put on a show for others to enjoy not just for themselves. If it weren't for their HOBBY we wouldn't have race tracks and you wouldn't be making 30 dollars to sit and take notes. I see the views from both ends. I don't have the solution or the money but I wish I did!!

Thanks Jerry im glad i got to race against you and i look forward to it again. No a lot of people dont understand that it does take a lot of money to race and people do need a track that can support this fun sport. I love Owosso and my dad and i have been racing there for 5 years and we drive all the way from Grand Rapids every weekend to race there. But now we just cant afford to race there any more so its just time to move on. But its always great to come back n get the first win of the season im glad i could do that and see all of my friends out there. Ill be racing out there the weekend the ASALMS will be there but after that were most likely are going to get into the late model racing at Spartan Speedway. It was good racing with everyone at Owosso thanks for making my life of racing what it is today see ya all later

You know, I am not asking to get insulted. I just don't want my thread hijacked and turned into a bashfest. I'm sorry for asking you guys to take it elsewhere. Didn't know it would be so offensive to you.
And just for the record I don't just "take notes and give it to the web guy." I spend a lot of time writing, proofreading, revising and editing my articles, and would appreciate what I do not being belittled by someone who obviously doesn't know what exactly it is I do.

You can't get on Dave too much for he has a partner that is really the problem thier , he tells you one thing and knowing that he isn't going to do what he says and greed is the big problem with that other guy , like when fans do start coming he raises the addmission fee at the front gate . So i would have to say that i do like Dave Bigos it's that his partner barried him. My opinon

While I agree with the views of Owosso Speedways current condition, I would like to add something to the mix. How is a young man suppose to address the frustrations of many when he's not directly responsible for BigHaus Inc? This did start as a results thread. In future if the membership is so inclined, we all have the ability and tool to start a new topic that is titled toward this type of discussion.
