SMS is not out in the middle of no where. Perhaps if the name were changed to Lansing Speedway, Jackson Speedway, or maybe Battle Creek Speedway people would then think that it is probably within 20-30 miles. The only problem is that the track is not associated with any large city. Angola Speedway is in Fremont Indiana, 20 miles from Angola on county roads. Kalamazoo is west and north of Kalamazoo some 15 - 20 miles. Spartan was 15 miles from Lansing when it was built. Berlin is in Marne 20+ miles the other side of Grand Rapids. M-40 is on a highway, but more than 20 miles from any large city. Owosso is 1 mile from Ovid, 2 miles from Elsie and 10 miles or so from Owosso.

Springport Motor Speedway is within 15 miles of I-69, 18 miles to I-94, 25 miles to I-96 in Lansing, 25 miles or less to Battle Creek, Marshall, Jackson, Lansing, Charlotte, Mason and all the small towns around, but only about 5 miles off of State Highway M-99 on all paved roads in Calhoun County, across the road from Jackson County and within 1/2 a mile of Eaton County. I have been to many tracks that would be considered much more out in the middle of nowhere than SMS, but most were not as nice as Springport.
