Unfortunatly the autograph session usally takes 60 to 75 minutes, inc pulling cars out and clearing the track. But I do agree with the Bullet, heats then autograph would be the way to go.

I'm going to put my two cents worth in. FR does autograph night twice a year and it didn't take no where near as long as AC's did earlier this year. You qualify them, then bring them out. They also start qualifying a 1/2 hr earlier. You know what, we start within the 15 minutes of the normal start time (7).
You could still run the heats and features and SD, if you started that 1/2 hr earlier.
FR's Autograph session is 45 minutes, and it takes 15 minutes to clear the track of cars. The ones that are in the first race, just stay on the track. There's no need for it to go longer than that.

you know as a fan. i love aussie pursuit,,but i also love my heat races..i understand what joe is doing by running the aussie,it cuts alot of time off.that everyone was complaining about getting done to late..but for autograph night i would like heat races..instead of sd i would like to see the aussies run, just a couple for the acss and the fs you know go back to the roots of it all,,thats what all the tracks did when i was a kid,,,specially for autograph night

going to have to go with what dixie did for their autograph night. The only class that ran the heat races was the touring shorttracktruck series. After that it was all features and that is fine with me. Racing satrted late to begin with, but they ran all 7 divisions in a very reasonable amount of time.....couldn't have been happier.

So are they suppose to be running pursuits?
As a fan, how would you feel if a track dumped one set of heats each week to get you out earlier?
For instance, next week the Hornets would skip their heats .... the next week, the FS and so forth until everyone misses a night and then you start over. My mom said that's what FR does, get them out there a half hour earlier (but theire normal night is about 10:30-11).
As a driver, I know they don't like it much, because there's always one group that only gets to run a feature each week.

im not a big fan of the pursuits the last pursuit that i was involved (and by involved i mean there with a car but not running in) i qualified 11th which put me right outside of the pursuit but in the feature so i didnt have to run the semi so i got to the track at 2 qualified at 6 then sat around for oh about 7 hours just so i could race for 15 laps since they cut our feature down kinda makes for a boring night that and i usually use the heat race as another practice session under race conditions cause most of the time this is about our only real practice due to the fact that for most hot laps there are one or two new drivers that really arnt fast enough so we really dont get to test our cars to racing extreams we just get to warm up the tires that and like i said to begin with i hate aussie pursuits i wanna race

some racers do not like sitting around for 5-7 hours doing nothing waiting to race a feature I know even if my boy makes the pursuit we sit out,,,, running for points only you dont want to run a race for no points and take the chance of wrecking putting you out of the feature (points) race

I'd rather have the heats... they're easier to score.
Wasn't it the ACSS Pursuit that they crashed in it?

Well I know that when I go to the racetrack, I take every opportunity to race that I get. I never sit out heat races or pursuits. I know that alot of fans like pursuits because they can see the faster cars work their way through the field one at a time. I'm not sure if you can really complain that the fans aren't getting enough "bang for their buck" when you wouldn't be willing to participate in what is offered. The same goes for the amount of racing that the drivers get. You will be able to have a race if you qualify in the top 10, so that is more incentive to qualify in the top 10. This is how it has always been on autograph night, I haven't heard any complaints before. If a race is offered and you don't want to participate, don't complain.
