It was a hot and humid night of racing Saturday night at the Angola Motor Speedway, but fans still made it out to the track to enjoy some great racing action. They saw Michigan Legend Cars, a 40 lap Superior Auto Modified feature, the last leg of the Everage Auto $2000 to win Super Late Model feature, as well as Napa Street Stocks and the wild and crazy mini stocks.

The Superior Auto Modified cars were first out for their 50 lap feature event. John Gatton Jr. got out to the early race lead and led the first 13 laps of the race. John Gearheart was able to pass on the 14th lap to take over the race lead. Fast qualifier, Steve Minich Jr., was fast qualifier and started 8th in the feature. He moved his way through the field and got around Rick Coe on the 20th lap to take third. He then took second on the 24th lap. Gearheart and Minich Jr. battled for the race lead and it looked as if Gearheart was going to be too tough to pass. However, Minich Jr. was able to pull off a great pass in turn 2 on the 38th lap to take the race lead. Minich Jr. took the checkered flag for the 2nd week in a row, with Gearheart finishing 2nd and John Gatton Jr. rounding out the top 3 with his 3rd place finish.

The Michigan Legend Cars were next up to run their 30 lap feature. Frank Jiovani led the race early but was passed on the 22nd lap by Ryan Meldrum. Meldrum was the winner of the fast heat race earlier in the night, and you could tell his car was fast as he started 7th and moved up through the field. A slew of cautions on the 29th lap slowed up the finish of the race, but it was Ryan Meldrum who eventually took the checkered flag. Scott Menlen finished 2nd after starting on the pole, and Levi Rouster rounded out the top 3 with his 3rd place finish.

The Super Late Models were next up to run their 75 lap, $2000 to win feature event. Alan Terry started on the outside poll position and jumped out to the early race lead. He was followed by Brian Huntley, Greg Parr, Brent Jack, and Jack Landis. They kept this order for the first 44 laps, all battling hard to gain positions. On lap 45, Greg Parr was able to get around Brian Huntley as was Brent Jack, Jack Landis, Mike Kugler and Jeff Parr. Jeff Parr started 10th, and you could tell he was a fast car as he moved up to the sixth spot. The next 18 laps saw three different battles taking place on the track. Greg Parr was right on Alan Terry’s bumper battling for the lead, Jack Landis was right on Brent Jack’s bumper battling for the 3rd spot, and Jeff Parr was all over Mike Kugler’s bumper battling for the 5th spot. On the 65th lap, Greg Parr went too hard into turns 3 and 4 and spun out all by himself. This gave Brent Jack the second spot. Brent Jack battled Alan Terry hard and clean over the next 10 laps, but was never able to get around him. Alan Terry took the checkered flag for his first feature win of the 2007 season, and what he called “the biggest win of his career.” Last week’s winner and point’s leader Brent Jack finished 2nd, Jack Landis 3rd, Mike Kugler 4th, and Brian Huntley snuck back into the top 5 with his 5th place finish.

The Napa Street Stocks were next up to run their 20 lap feature. Jermey May got out to the early race lead, and he was followed closely by Bob “the cop” Thompson and Tommy Little. Thompson took the lead away from May on the 10th lap, while Tommy little and Dick Margo also got past May. These three battled for the next few laps before they saw Margo take the lead on lap 17. Nobody could catch the fast qualifier as he took home another feature win. Tommy Little came in 2nd, and Bob Thompson rounded out the top 3 with his 3rd place finish.

The wild and crazy mini stocks were last out to run their 15 lap feature. Jim Musser, winner of the last two feature events, got out to the race lead on the 2nd lap. He was followed by Kedrin Holliday and Kyle Moonen. It was obvious in qualifying that Kedrin Holliday was a man on a mission to get back into the winner’s circle as he set an Angola Motor Speedway record in qualifying with a time of 17.527 seconds, breaking Jimm Jones’ old record of 17.55 seconds. He passed Musser on the 6th lap and never looked back. Musser followed the rest of the race in 2nd, and Kyle Moonen was running a strong 3rd place before his car had problems on the 12th lap that sent him into the pit area. Kedrin Holliday went on to take the checkered flag, Jim Musser came in 2nd, and Clif Bennett returned to the Angola Motor Speedway after getting married last weekend with a strong 3rd place finish.

The NAMRA Formula Indy cars make their way to the Angola Motor Speedway next Saturday night. All regular classes will also be in action. The Everage Motorsports Team will be treating fans to $1 beer and $1 hot dogs as well. Don’t miss next week’s show. Be There!!
