A PAIR OF FIRSTS FOR SUPERPRO AT WINCHESTER

The Bollhoff Rivnut SUPERPRO Series paid its first ever visit to Charlie Shaw’s historic Winchester Speedway and Edgeton, Ohio’s Jason Dietsch picked up the first SUPERPRO win of his career.
Young Derek Bischak and Al Cook, Jr. led the field to the green of the “Aluminum Racing Products 50” with Cook, Jr. jumping into the lead. Yong Michael Gaier moved quickly from his sixth starting position to grab the point on lap four. Fast qualifier Rick Turner, Dietsch and Tommy Cook all began to put the heat on Gaier. Gaier made contact with the turn four wall on lap 15 and made a miraculous save down the front stretch to maintain the lead. Dietsch moved to second on lap 16 and into the lead two laps later.
Turner made hard contact with the wall on lap 22, bringing out the first caution of the event. Cook made the save of the century as he lost it out of turn four trying to pass Dietsch and somehow missed the water barrels that protect the inside wall.
At the half way point, it was Dietsch followed by Rob Buckley, Gaier, Al Cook and Bischak. Tommy Cook moved from the tail to fourth by lap 34. It was all Dietsch to the checkers followed by Buckley, Gaier, Tommy Cook, and Bischak with his best SUPERPRO finish to date and the Five Star Rookie of the Race Award.
Dietsch also won the All Star Performance Hard Charger Award with leading Five Star Racing rookie Colin Toland, who hit the wall during practice, taking the ARP Hard Luck honors. Turner was the ARP-Q Racing and Corrigan Oil fast qualifier with a lap of 16.41 seconds (109.689 miles per hour) around the high banked half mile oval.
