Round III Owosso Triple Crown Adjustments
After carefully reviewing the results of Round I and II of our planned Triple Crown Series, it has been decided some adjustments need to be made. Financially the track has not done well, and is in the red for the series so far. I also don’t think it has been financially favorable for the majority of the car owners, having to spend $480.00 on tires plus entry fee and getting $450.00 to start. The number of cars showing up to race has not been satisfactory, as well as the number of cars
finishing the race has not been good either. The fan attendance is well below the numbers needed in order to cover a show of this magnitude. I am personally disappointed at the low car count and fan attendance that we have seen. I feel Bighause, Inc. layed it out there
for the drivers to come and race for some good bucks, and set the stage for our fans to see an awesome race. Although, attendance on both sides of the wall didn’t step up and make it a success.
Owosso loves to have the super come, although I cannot allow this last super show to jeopardize the remainder of our season. If we were to take another financial hit similar to Round II it quite possibly would end the season for the rest of us. My choices are to cancel Round III altogether, or make some changes and hope for the best. I have chosen to march on with some changes. So please understand these changes are being made in the best interest of a lot of people who participate at Owosso Speedway regularly, and the drivers who may participate in Round III
Please Review The Following Changes
1. There Will Be No Points Fund Sorry, we were unable to obtain any sponsorship support and the track or this series doesn’t have the funds available. 1st, 2nd, 3rd place trophies will be awarded!!
2. 65 Lap Feature, instead of 100 Laps
3. Purse Payout
1st - $1,500 6th -$600
2nd- $1,000 7th -$500
3rd -$900 8th -$450
4th -$800 9th -$400
5th -$700 10th $350
11th – 20th -$300
Fast Qualifier - $150

So, does this mean they're paying MORE to win?

The orginal payout was $3,000 to win. Not sure what the rest of the payout was though. It was cut....

Well, I knew each race was $1,000 to win, and that said $1,500. Just because I am employed there, doesn't mean I am the brain trust of the Owosso Speedway.

just to be clear for everyone! it was 3,000$ to win each race, and at 1000$ points pay out at the end. totaling 10,000 if you won all 3 events! and i dont think he meant to be rude to you in general.. just because you work there doesnt mean you know whats going on with everything.. i think he was just point out that.. even owosso own staff doesnt know what the hell they are thinking! i bet you see half as many supers show now!!!! we will just wait an see eh?? until then lets enjoy the races this weekend when someone else is running it!!! =]

Now, this is just my opinion, and what I do, so take it as you will. I went to the first Owosso triple crown and was looking forward to going to all three, but after seeing all the crap that went on in the first, I was kinda sceptical as to wheather I wanted to go to the other two. Well, when they raised the price for the second, that made up my mind, and I didn't go. I love racing, and I would love to see Owosso make it (it is in my opinion the best RACING track in our area), but I live paycheck to paycheck, so I have to watch out for me FIRST. The first race had good cars, and alot of fans. Not sure of the second, but it sounds like there weren't as many fans. Maybe the owners of Owosso should think about what happened between the first show and the second that would make people not come. Well, now they don't have to think, because I told them why I did not come to the second.

ps. Maybe another reason things are not going well there is because (as just stated in other replies) NOBODY knows whats going on till it happens. I could add my expierences at other successful tracks and not so seccessful tracks, but this thread is not about that, so I wont.
