The Everage Motorsports team was determined to get a full show in on Saturday night, and that’s exactly what they did. Because of weather conditions, they decided to skip the heat races and just run features to help speed up the show. Despite a couple of weather delays, the fans saw all the feature events of the evening completed.
The Wild and Crazy Mini Stocks were first up to run their 15 lap feature. Jerry Slone broke Kedrin Holliday’s track record in qualifying with a time of 17.468. Kedrin Holliday was next up in qualifying and broke Jerry Slone’s newly established record with a time of 17.415. This was an indicator of things to come as these two battled for the top spot in the feature. Jerry Slone was able to take the lead on the 5th lap, with Kedrin Holliday right on his tail. It looked as if Holliday was going to pass him on a couple of occasions, but was never able to get past Slone. Slone took first place in the feature with Holliday coming in 2nd and James Hinton finishing 3rd.
The NAMRA Formula Indy cars were next up to run their 20 lap feature. These are some of the fastest cars you will see in short track asphalt racing. Scott Miller was top qualifier with a time of 13.836. It didn’t take him long to move to the front of the field in the feature either as he started last and was leading after just 5 laps. He never looked back as he went on to win the feature event with Gary Miller coming in 2nd and Greg Stanley coming in 3rd.
The NAPA Street Stocks were next up to run their 20 lap feature. Dick Margo was fast qualifier, followed by Tommy Little and Robby Henderson. Margo, however, never ran a lap in the feature as he went off due to mechanical problems during the feature’s warm up laps. Jamie Garrett ran out to an early race lead with Tony Van Allen closely following. Van Allen was able to pass Garrett on lap 9, but was passed on the very next lap by Robby Henderson. Tommy Little charged through the field and took over the 2nd spot from Van Allen and challenged Henderson for the lead. He was never able to get by Henderson, who made his return to the track a good one with a feature win. Tommy Little came in a close 2nd, and points leader Tony Van Allen rounded out the top 3 with his 3rd place finish.
The Super Late Models were next up to run their 30 lap feature event. Jack Landis set fast qualifying time, followed by Justin May and Mike Kugler. Landis and hometown favorite Scott Hantz would never run a lap in the feature, as both dropped out with mechanical problems during the warm up laps. Jasper Case got out to the early race lead and was followed by Brent Jack. Jeff Parr was able to get into 3rd place on the 9th lap to battle Jack for the 2nd spot. Jasper Case’s car began to slow coming off turn two do to mechanical problems on the 10th lap and spun out and had to go to the pit area which gave Brent Jack the lead. Jeff Parr battled hard to get the lead, but could never get around Brent Jack during the final 20 laps. Larry Wiseman battled Kale Azstalos over these laps for the 4th spot, but he couldn’t pass either. Brent Jack picked up his 2nd feature win of the year followed by Jeff Parr, Kale Azstalos, Larry Wiseman and Mike Kugler.
The Superior Auto Modified cars were last up to run their 25 lap feature. Steve Minich Jr. was fast qualifier followed by Erik Schaeffer and Scott Moyer. John Gatton Jr. started on the inside pole and ran out to the early race lead. Dennis Kurtz followed closely for the first 21 laps of the race before his car broke causing him to drop out of the lead and giving Cory Setser the 2nd spot. Setser wasn’t given much time to pass as the race was called on the 23rd lap due to slick track conditions due to rain. Gatton Jr. picked up the feature victory followed by Cory Setser, Erik Schaeffer, Scott Moyer, and Steve Minich Jr.
