If there are any "EYES" that monitor this site, I saw a kid that looks pretty darn talented and should get a shot out there. If I win the lottrery , I would hunt the kid up...
His name is TRENT SYNDER out of Minnesota.
The kid put on a great show at Dixie...very smooth and could pass cars..16th to 2nd before being taken out by the 11 car.
There is plenty of drivers that can be fast, but lack the ability on passing cars , where, how etc...
That kid seemed to have the "GOT IT" factor in my book. I dont care who you are, but passing 14 cars very cleanly and smoothly in a crate series race is impressive.
Also , it amazes me that Brian Campbell has never got a chance. What a great personality and he seems to enjoy everything and everybody around him..
it goes to show how much $$ from the connections plays into things, because he sure seems like a personality that sponsors would like..a great kid as well.
Another thing is I have never been a fan of crate stuff, but the Dixie race made me a believer as it was a good race and the big thing was there were 23 of the 27 starters on the track up till the wrecking with 8 or so laps to go..so it makes for better racing than when our supers have around 8-9 finishing 100 laps... so i may be a conformist..shhh dont tell anybody!
Nice show Ron, I hope you took home some $$$.

The key for Campbell is the same for any other person wanting to move up to Nascar, you have to move to Mooresville period, thats what ive been told by people who have been in Nascar for twenty years, if you want to drive or work in Nascar then you have to move here...Bruce

The talent pool of drivers in the south is pathetic compared to the north and northeast.
all the best people and drivers come from this region.
Besides nascar has become like IRL or indycars, you bring the money you get the ride.

That race did help Brad but he was in the series before and even finished 7th at Daytona 2 years ago. Brad has made themost of his opportunities, he can thank Mark Martin for the chance in the Musgrave truck. He is the one who recomended Brad to them.

And what a couple of seasons did for another one that tried it on his own. (Boyd)
Does anyone honestly move up without just buying a ride anymore? I mean Stan busted his ass to do it and couldnt, and he was one of the best around here. He didnt show up with mommy and daddy's money and buy a winning ride though. I doubt there's any way at all for a talented young driver to make the move without $$$$$. I think it's really sad to watch people spend their last dime on these dreams, because they are a lot more far fetched than most realize.

I agree Claude the talent at the local tracks here sucks, but if you want to be in NASCAR YOU HAVE TO LIVE HERE, Im sure youall didnt know this but my wife Sandi and I, sponsored Stan Boyd in three late model races and two truck races, at that time I told him to pack his Shit and move if he wants to race for a living, if you move here, race late models at Hickory and win consistantly, you will be in a Busch car, Hendrick, Gibbs, JR, DEI all have developmental drivers in late models at Hickory, you go there and waste them, youll have a contract, you all can bad mouth us down here all you want, but if you want to make a living in racing then you better have a NC mailing address, by the way Rusty says he spends 250k per race to run one Busch team.......Bruce

I always give him crap about his driving, hes a good kid and if he ever gets calmed down and waits a lap to make his move he will win some races, we are changing brands for next year I can't say yet which one, but that will dictate who we can put in our second car, it my be Herman but we really would love to have Jamie back in our car but he has a Ford deal and thats not the direction we are heading, Mark Martin has been around the shop lately, he would be great to have as a driver, hes tight with Rusty so who knows, I wish I could bring Reinbold or Sauve down here and put them in our Busch East car they would do well down here......Bruce

Bruce, $250 k for one Busch race? Can you give a a partial breakdown of where that money goes? The amount seems high but then again, when Wallace is on his game he can run up front.
Rusty told us he will have spent 8.5 million this year on one Busch team, divided by 35 races =$242,857.00 now with two teams that amount will drop to around 200k per race, per car, but we are changing brands for next season so all cars will be rebodied, and we have to build about ten to twelve brand new cars we currently have 18 cars around 8 are race ready at any given time, as far as a breakdown, I wouldnt know where start, all I know is everything is top dollar at our place, and we dont want for anything, we currently get our engines from Penske/Jasper, next year??????????....Bruce

Claude...thats funny stuff. haha
Anyway seriously Bruce, I have a question for you. You said the only way to work/drive in nascar is to move to n.c. How does one go about getting a job from there....do you just walk up to a shop and hope they are hiring?? Do you take a job as a sweeper hoping to move up the food chain? I ve seen comercials for UTI i believe, but how would you suggest landing a job on a team? Just curious....I always have been curious on how this happens....how did you get your job *(if you dont mind me asking)
fastbruce88
Aug 24 2007, 01:40 PM
Kyle, thats a question that I get asked alot, heres what I tell them, move here and take any kind of job you can make a living at, if your a carpenter then come and pound nails, then you need to start making friends here, get to know people your next door neighbor probably works for a Nascar team, ask around, people are coming and going at the shops every day, the best shot you will have is finish fab, you will build duct work, crush panels, spoilers, windows, dashes ect. hone your welding and fabricating skills, and you will get a job, if you already have a in with a team then your all set, when I move down here I took a job as a construction foreman, but I kept up with teams, I was driving back from Raleigh on a sunday mornig after picking up a Camaro that I bought and I ran out of fuel trying, I coasted into a CVS lot, and no sooner had I rolled to a stop, a Mercedes pulled up and asked if I needed help, the man took me to a station and proceded to tell me his name was Bill ( I cant rember his first name) and he was a sports marketing agent and handled many Nascar teams I asked him if he knew of any hiring and he told me Fitzbradshaw was and was a client of his, he called Armondo and arranged a interview for me, I told him my background and experience and Armondo hired me, once you are in then you can hone your skills, and move on to a bigger team.
thats my story...Bruce

Thanks a lot bruce...I appreciate the feedback. My friends dad works in the engine room at Childress Racing. I ve always wanted to move down into the "racing world" and learn a thing or two! haha, anyway thanks for the information and good luck to you. *(one last question)....what do you do at the shop now?

Aug 24 2007, 06:50 PM
No problem Kyle, at the shop I am the Interior guy, I do all the plumbing and wireing, I build the gauge panels, mount the fire bottles, build and run the brake lines, I travel with the Busch east team, and I am a mechanic at the track and I do some spotting, next year I will be at the shop full time doing Interiors and I will do about 6 ARCA races as car chief, its busy but I really enjoy it and I recommend it as a way to earn a very good living...Bruce
