The stands were packed at the Angola Motor Speedway last night for the first ever “Night of Destruction.” Fans were treated to an action packed night, full of destruction.

The night was kicked off by Stunt Metal’s motorcycle stunt team. They impressed the crowd with an array of wheelies, burnouts and unbelievable tricks. One member of the team won the wheelie contest as he did two complete laps around the Angola track before track officials gave him the checkered flag as he could have rode the wheelie much longer. It was a treat for everyone to see these three guys put on a show for the Angola crowd.

Tricky Travelstead wowed the crowd all night with three major stunts. The first stunt saw tricky ramp a vehicle into two standing vans that were demolished when he was done. In the second stunt, Tricky drove a vehicle off a ramp through a camper. In the last trick, Tricky was in a car that was burning and when he emerged he was engulfed in flames. It was a delight for everyone to see this professional stunt man at work.

The crowd was also treated to two school bus races during the evening. The first race was a five lap employee race that saw the track announcer Andy Jack put EMS member Finley Conley into the wall on the backstretch trying to pass on the last lap. He wasn’t able to pass though and Conley won the race. Larry Nagle, tech official at the Angola Motor Speedway, came out victorious in the 20 lap feature bus race after some bumping and grinding during the race.

A large number of cars were on hand for the spectator drag races paying $100 to win. Super Late Model driver Scott Hantz was one of the competitors in the drags and was victorious in his first race; however he fell to Mini Stock driver Evan Park in the 2nd round. Evan Park ended up defeating the whole field to defend his crown as spectator drag champion.

The wild and crazy mini stocks were the only class set to race in their “Race of Champions” 50 lap feature. The feature event was broken down into two 25 lap features, with a total inversion being applied after the first feature based on finishing position. The first feature saw Kedrin Holliday, fast qualifier for the night get out to the race lead after 5 laps. He was followed by Bryce Schaeffer and Jamison Corn, but neither could catch the defending track champion as he went on to take the checkered flag. Schaeffer came in 2nd place, followed by Jamison Corn who finished 3rd. The second feature of the night saw two yellow flags and a red flag with just one lap completed that sent 5 of the drivers to the pit area, including 2nd fast qualifier and 2nd place finisher in the first feature Bryce Schaeffer. James Hinton got out to the early race lead and looking strong, but Kedrin Holliday was running strong and on his tail. He was able to pass Hinton halfway through the race and would never give up his lead. James Hinton finished 2nd followed by Jamison Corn who finished 3rd for the second time of the night.

The night was capped off by truck vs. truck pulls and a burnout contest. It was a fun filled evening at the Angola Motor Speedway with the first ever Night of Destruction. Next week will be an action packed racing night, as each class will run 50 lap feature events. You don’t want to miss next weeks action with season championships on Saturday and Sunday the open wheel spectacular #2. See you at the Track!
