19 year old Michael Gaier of Coldwater, MI took the lead on lap17 and cruised to an easy win in the ZENTX MEDIA GROUP 75 SUPERPRO-ACSS Shootout Series Saturday at Auto City Speedway in Flint, MI.
Dennis Rederstorf and Robbie Johnson brought the field down to the green with Rederstorf grabbing the lead. Johnson spun on the backstretch on lap one, sending him to the pits for repairs and eliminating 2005 SUPERPRO champ Rob Buckley and Norman Wilcox.
On the restart, Sam Coulter and Jeff Owens got together in turn four with young Barry Hartwell going over the front of Coulter’s machine and flipping wildly into the wall. After a few anxious moments, Hartwell emerged unscathed.
Rederstorf maintained the lead until lap 17 when Gaier moved by. The Cook brothers, Al and Tommy moved into second and third on lap 39 and Shaun Whitney moved into fourth on lap 40.
At the 50 lap mark, it was Gaier, Al Cook, Whitney, Tommy Cook and Jeff Owens. The field maintained thoes positions until a last lap altercation between Al Cook and Whitney. At the checkers, it was Gaier, Al Cook, Tommy Cook, Jeff Owens, Rederstorf, Johnson, Whitney, John Buckner, Wayne Howe, and Kevin Todd.
Wilcox was the Aluminum Racing Products-Q Racing - Corrigan Oil Fast Qualifier with a time of 15.62 seconds around the ½ mile oval. Buckley was awarded the ARP “Hard Luck Award.”
The Bollhoff Rivnut SUPERPRO Series closes out its 2007 season with the running of the “Bollhoff Rivnut 75” this Saturday, September 15 at Baer Field Speedway in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. The 2007 SUPERPRO Series Championship will be decided with Tommy Cook holding a slight advantage over Gaier.

Patience was deffinately checked in at the front door...everyone wanted to win on lap 1! In an hour the races went two green flag laps, and two RED FLAGS!!

Was wondering who got Robbie.... That's where I pick them up to start scoring and just saw him go sideways.

Does anyone remember when Jerry Cook made a right hand turn in front of the field at Toledo for an Iceman race (probably about 92 or so).... Stacked the LMs up 4 deep that night.

Yes I remember that night. I do believe it was 1992. It was the same year Freddy won the Iceman Championship I think. The Cook brothers were on the inside and outside poles. They came around, got the green and all hell broke loose. They tore up a lot of cars that night. There was carnage everywhere. I cannot remember how many got taken out but the field was pretty slim at the checkered flag.

It looked like on the video that the 21 was spinning and slowed when the 43 hit him. One of those "racing deals" as they say.

Call it what ever you want!! A racing deal is was two guys are racing side by side and get into each other. Not when you run into someone from behind and spin them out, the #21 car strated outside front row. Johnson didn't check up. The race was 75 LAPS!!

What happened to Norm?
