I get the releases, so I'll try and remember to post them. There's some prices on here and it's a 31 car field. This year, the B main, the winner goes to the Glass City 200, instead of it being just a separate feature.

DEFENDING CHAMP JACK LANDIS, MIDWEST HOTSHOE JOE BUSH ENTER GLASS CITY 200 (9-10-07)
TOLEDO, OH: Edgerton, OH native and 2006 winner Jack Landis is among the latest entries for the prestigious Miller Lite Glass City 200 Late Model invitational, presented by National City Bank and Allegiant Air, set for Saturday, September 22 at Toledo Speedway. Landis joins a flurry of entries that include Midwest star Joe Bush, Brent Jack, Jake Francis, Steve Cronenwett, Ron Allen and veteran Roger Blackstock as the 200 lap classic nears.

A cash purse of over $70,000 has been posted, with $7000 going to the winner, as well as cash bonuses and contingency awards also at stake. The 200 lap contest pays $1000 to start the event in the 31 car field.

Landis powered his number 10 car to his first-ever Toledo victory in last year’s September event at the fast ½ mile paved oval. Jack has numerous wins in big events throughout the Midwest, but called the Glass City victory “the biggest of my career”. Hastings, MI driver Joe Bush, who competed at Toledo during Labor Day, is entered to pilot the Port City Race Cars house car number 61. Bush has also collected wins at various tracks throughout his career and will be one of the favorites for the 19th running of the race, which began in 1968.

Auburn, IN driver Brent Jack has been very strong this season at Toledo and has posted wins at several venues in 2007. Youngster Jake Francis is an up and coming talent, as is Steve Cronenwett Jr. of Flat Rock, MI. Allen will be at the wheel of his number 69 and recently captured the Toledo Sportsman crown. Veteran Roger Blackstock is coming off a solid season at Flat Rock and has filed his entry for the Glass City event. The Richmond, MI driver has competed on superspeedways with the ARCA RE/MAX Series and returned to the local Late Model scene a couple of seasons ago. This group joins John Doering Jr., Justin Schroeder, Scott Giroux, Mike Luberda Jr., Paul Pelletier, Mike Jaynes, Joe Hawes, AJ Lane and Dennis Strickland as early entrants for the race.

The speedway is inviting back all former winners of the Glass City 200 for the 2007 edition of the event. They include 1968 winner Joy Fair, 1970, 71, and 77 champ Bob Senneker, Danny Byrd-1972; Joe Ruttman, 1969 and 1973; Jim Bickerstaff, 1975; Ed Cooper, 1976; Tim Felver, 1999; Tim Ice, 2000; Jr. Hanley, 2001; Steve Sauve, 2002, 03, 04; Doering Jr., 2005 and Landis, 2007. Felver, Ice, Sauve, Doering and Landis obviously remain as active drivers. 1974 winner John Anderson lost his life in an auto accident years ago.

Race fans have 2 chances to walk away with some very special prizes at the 200 September 22. $500 in cash will be awarded to a lucky race fan in the Wynn’s/LV Enterprises Half-Way Challenge. The leader of lap 100 will draw out a name during the mid-race break. And 2 round-trip tickets from Toledo to St. Pete, FL, courtesy of Allegiant Air. All fans are eligible to enter the drawing as they enter the track Saturday.

Saturday’s schedule has the pits opening at 9 a.m., with practice at Noon, time trials at 3 and racing at 5 p.m. A rain date of Sunday, September 23 has been established, with a 1 p.m. start time if needed.

The track will offer a $5 discount to all Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club Members and Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club members for Saturday’s event by showing their card at the ticket window. The track will also admit all Scouts in uniform FREE to the biggest race of the season at the ½ mile paved oval.

Saturday’s race card will include practice, time trials, last-chance races, the 25 lap B Main and the Miller Lite Glass City 200 lap race, plus a last-chance race and 40 lap ARCA National City Bank Sportsman feature, along with a 25 lap ARCA A-1 Auto Parts Factory Stock main event.

Reserved seats are now on sale for the race by calling the track at 419-727-1100. Cash, VISA and Mastercard will be accepted for advance ticket orders only. The speedway is located on Benore Road at the I-75/Alexis Road exit on the Michigan-Ohio border. For up to date information, check out toledospeedway.com

And the question on everyones mind........................................

Will Michael Simko drop kick his way through another windshield???

Join us at intermission when Simko and St. Denis engage in a NO HOLDS BARRED Steel cage match on the front stretch!!!!!

Sorry, I couldn't help myself!!!

Should be a great show as always, even without the cage match.

I am very excited about the lineup at Toledo this weekend. They have a practice on Friday, does anyone know if it is open to the public? I already have my tickets for Saturday. Great weather is predicted, and this should be one of the best SLM races of the year.

Just looking on the ARCA website they have put together a very big night of racing for Saturday night. Scott Schultz and Ron Dager have done alot to make this event a big to do. Your a fool if this event has not made it onto your calendar. With all the promotions, give aways, discounted tickets available. You cant loose. This will be my third glass city 200. I am excited to see this event run under the lights.

Icechips- will you be there Friday and Saturday night?

I guess a lot of us will be FOOLS then. Personally, I hate that it is a night race now. The Sunday afternoon race was perfect for me, and the way the Glass City has been forever. If it was Sunday, I'd be there.

Oh well, there are a lot of season ending specials going on all over the place.

Different strokes, for different folks, or should I say....fools.
sybra2ecar
What shows are also running Saturday night competing with this event? Are there any other SLM shows that will decrease the car count?

The Glass no longer runs on Sunday because they had many issues with bad weather and poor crowds, plus now Sunday can be used as a rain date. If you're an "oldschool" SLM fan I agree this is a must see event. SLM's on the Toledo half-mile are awesome!

Brian
fastforward
As far as other superlates racing Saturday, Berlin Raceway's points championship event is Saturday and the CRA late models are at ORP this weekend as well. I would say the CRA event at ORP would be taking a few cars away from the GC 200; such as Scott Hantz, Johnny Vandoorn and possibly a few others...but that's racin'

I see that the GC 200 pre-entries are up to 38 drivers, which is decent, but down from a few years back when the numbers were in the mid-50's. They will probably end up with a car count in the 40's by the time Saturday arrives.

I hope the race gets a good fan turnout because I live in Toledo and I have yet to hear/see any advertising for the event (not saying there isn't any, I just have not seen/heard of any). We'll see how it goes. Saturday's weather looks to be pretty good.

See ya there.

Really off the wall idea icon_biggrin.gif

If the ARCA Remax race is in October next year, move the glass city 200 to that weekend..

could do it something like

Run Glasscity qualifying and preliminaries on Friday night with the ARCA Truck, with the Factory stocks

Remax Qualifying and B main and A main Saturday with sportsman

Remax 200 on Sunday.

Maybe sell a 3 day ticket for 55 or 60 bucks (with free butt cushions)

The only advertising I've seen for it, is it's on the "crawl" at the bottom of the screen on the Weather Channel for Buckeye Cable when they run the local forecast.

I'll be there as well...I work Friday nights , so it's one of the very few chances I get to go the track this year, and dammit.. I'm going to take it. banana.gif

It doesn't just have to be a SLM show. Any season ending show could draw people away, it all depends on what they like. And even though I know there are many SLM fans, that doesn't mean each and every one of them will converge on Toledo Saturday night. I'm a SLM fan, but I'll be at Whittimore. Tons of tracks have had big SLM shows, and only a few 100 in the grandstand seen it. Seems to me last year Saturday night wasn't very good weather wise, was it?? And the race eventually did run on Sunday. Bad weather can happen any day, Saturday as well as Sunday!!! I've seen awesome crowds there on Sunday's, so that excuse does not fly with me. Weather is the only thing that has kept crowds down. If they did run it on Sunday, there would be a ton of us driving down from Whittimore to go to it. And then add in all the other Saturday night tracks that are running. I bet they would have a better crowd on Sunday, then they will Saturday night!!!

I love Toledo, and the Glass City, this will be the first one I have missed since they brought it back, but I also have friends that are running elsewhere, and interest in other classes and facilities. All we can do is make the best choice as to what we are looking for individually. This year, Whittimore wins with me. Next year, who knows!! I will be down there for the big ARCA show in October.

But I don't think that I am a FOOL for not going to Toledo this year.

Hey Ed,

Bad weather can happen on any day.....really? Other season-ending events can pull fans from Toledo.....really? Does that mean the NFL, MLB, NASCAR, Hollywood or any other form of entertainment could also pull fans from the Saturday Night Glass City race....really? As I'm sure you're aware promoters have a thankless job and no matter what they deceide not everyone will be happy, nor in attendance.

I never said you were a fool for not going to Toledo, I implied your weren't an "oldschool" SLM fan. I hope you and everyone else in attendance/racing at Whittimore has fun. I've never been to Whittimore, but having raced a SLM at Toledo I know where I will be Saturday night. Toledo has/will always give me goosebumps. Have a great weekend!

Brian smile.gif
BigEd
And I never said that YOU said I was a fool, that was implied earlier in the thread by someone else, please read above.

And Brian, I would consider myself an "old school" SLM fan. But missing ONE Glass City race does not eliminate me from that standing. I love all types of racing, a variety, and that is what we are getting at Whittimore this weekend. I just wish it was being run Sunday, like it always used to be, then I could selfishly see ALL the races I wanted to. I'm sure you can really relate to Toledo as I remember you racing there a few years ago. When Iceman was alive and well I was in them grandstands every Sunday night. Hell, I went to Toledo more than the tracks 10 miles from my house for a couple years. I do love that place too.

Maybe you could help some of us out that have made that TOUGH decision to go somewhere else Saturday and give us details on the Glass City!!!!

And yes, promoters do have a thankless job. I'll be the first to admit that my desire to have them race that race on Sunday is as selfish as the day is long!!!

Have fun down there, and cheer for Claude for me once or twice, will ya??? LOL

Saying "Big Ed was a FOOL" is not my point, it was merely rambling over the excitement I have towards this weekend. I have been to Toledo only a few times this year. I am looking forward to this big show. As for a diverse show, Toledo will be running more then SLM. They have Sportsman, as well as Factory Stocks added to this show. Whats important is that everyone in someway or another support local short track racing. I have attended most big SLM shows in the area this year. Klash, Chet, Sizzler, and a few shows at Dixie, and Auto City. Harold Fair has been dominate at Toledo, but behind him has been some of the best racing I have seen. The only thing I have seen better was watching VanDoorn anyplace he runs.

Big Ed, I am sorry you took my post personal, I do indeed apologize. Next time I plan to insult you, I will make sure it is more specific, and focused on something you have actually done. From what people say about you, you do deserve that.

FYI- I read the ARCA website, and Simko has entered the event, so maybe Big Ed was right about the cage match. See some of you Friday, and the rest of the race fans formerly known as fools(sorry) see you somewhere else. Maybe Super Shoe.

It wasn't just me, I didn't feel singled out, it was any of us not choosing to go there, for whatever reason. I have a problem with thinking I'm speaking for the masses sometimes, for that I apologize!!! Better wording is all you needed, no offense taken, as I don't believe any was meant!!! Go have fun!!! And please share your thoughts of the race with us. The scheduling was the problem for me this year, as I'd love to be there also, but haven't quite figured out how to be at two places at once!!!!

I'm not quite sure how to take your last comment though!!! Just what is it that I deserve?? And what is it that you've heard people say about me?? Should I be nervous?? Or should I not care?? Hmmmmm???? Curious!!!

Merely saying you deserve the respect. Nothing bad. Have fun at Whittemore.

SIMKO RETURNS TO TOLEDO’S GLASS CITY 200 SATURDAY; 40 ENTRIES READY (9-20-07)

TOLEDO, OH: While Jack Landis celebrated perhaps the biggest win of his career in the 2006 edition of the Glass City 200, a pair of drivers drew world-wide attention for their skirmish. One half of the duo returns for Saturday’s race as Michael Simko has filed his entry for the 200 lap Late Model contest at Toledo Speedway.

With an incredible weather forecast for the weekend and a solid entry list, track officials are busy putting the finishing touches on Toledo Speedway for the 19th running of the Miller Lite Glass City 200 Late Model invitational presented by Allegiant Air and National City Bank. The Saturday night event boasts a purse of $70,000 for the evening of racing September 22 at the ½ mile paved oval.

Simko’s flying dropkick into the windshield of Don St. Denis’ car during a red flag period drew international attention to the race last year. A short scuffle ensued after, brought on after the two tangled on the track, with Simko tagging the turn 4 wall. Simko exited his car and went after St. Denis by the now infamous dropkick. Both drivers have served their penalties, which expired on June 1. Simko competed at Toledo in mid-June in a Late Model event, while St. Denis has not visited the track yet this year. There are rumors the Canadian will be at the track this weekend, but those have not been confirmed by any means.

“Both drivers have served their penalties, they have talked and have moved forward,” noted Scott Schultz, the track’s General Manager. “They were both sent entry blanks several weeks ago.”

The Late Model entry list now stands at 40 as of Thursday afternoon, In addition to Simko, Dr. Bob DuCharme, Jack Varney Jr., Darrell Howard Jr. and Adam Purdy’s entries were received today, hiking the entry number to the 40 car mark. A total of 29 ARCA National City Bank Sportsman cars have entered for their 40 lap main event, while the ARCA A-1 Auto Parts Factory Stocks will battle in a 25 lap main event as part of the 2007 edition of the classic.

Race fans will have a chance to win cash and plane tickets at this year’s event. The $500 Wynn’s/LV Enterprises Challenge will award a lucky race fan $500. The leader of the race at lap 100 will draw out the winning name at the ½ way mark of the event during the 20 minute break. The lap 100 leader will also pick up a $500 cash bonus, courtesy of Wynn’s/LV Enterprises.

And another fan will take home 2 round-trip tickets from Toledo to St. Petersburg, Florida, courtesy of Allegiant Air. Fans can register Saturday when they arrive at the track.

Friday, September 21 the activity will consist only of an optional practice session for both the Late Models and the ARCA Sportsman cars. The Friday schedule shows the pit area opening at noon for rig parking, pit pass and tires sales, along with the beginning of technical inspection. The practice session is set for 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and the garage area closes at 8:15 p.m. Friday. There is no admission charge to view practice Friday.

Saturday’s schedule has the pits opening at 9 a.m., with practice at Noon, time trials at 3 and racing at 5 p.m. A rain date of Sunday, September 23 has been established, with a 1 p.m. start time if needed.

The race originated in 1968 under the direction of ARCA founder John Marcum, with the win going to legendary Joy Fair. The event ran for ten consecutive seasons until the track was sold. In 1999, Marcum’s grandson, Ron Drager, the current President of ARCA and co-owner of Toledo along with his business partner Roy Mott, purchased the speedway and promptly revived the race. The Glass City 200 immediately rose again to prominence in the Late Model racing circles of the Midwest, becoming one of the most sought-after titles.

Former winners include Fair in 1968, Joe Ruttman, 1969 and 1973, Bob Senneker in 1970, 1971 and 1977; Danny Byrd, 1972; the late John Anderson, 1974; Ohioan Jim Bickerstaff, 1975; Ed Cooper, 1976; Tim Felver, 1999; Tim Ice, 2000; Jr. Hanley, 2001; Steve Sauve, 2002, 2003, 2004; John Doering, 2005 and 2006, Jack Landis. All former winners have been invited back to the track for this year’s race.

The winner will also receive 2 round-trip tickets from Toledo to St. Petersburg, FL, courtesy of Allegiant Air and the Howe Racing Enterprises bonus of a $300 product certificate and $500 if in a Howe chassis. Other posted awards include the $500 Kayo Lumber Fast Qualifier Award; $250 Burge Wrecking Hard Charger (Most Improved position) in the 200, and $100 All Star Performance product certificates to the 8th and 12th place finishers in the event.

R & M Recycling returns to sponsor the 25 lap B Main contest, but a new twist for this year puts the winner of the B Main into the Glass City 200 field, courtesy of Bazell Race Fuels/Sunoco Race Fuels. DTS/Drive Train Specialists has signed on to sponsor one of the last-chance races.

Giles Auto Body, Celebrations Fun Food Factory, Clean Sweep, NEMSYS, Vivid Maintenance, Michigan Racing Scene, Sandusky Speedway, Sterling Printing and Graphics and the Toledo Blade have also pledged their support with sponsorship for the Glass City 200.

Reserved seats are still available for the race by calling the track at 419-727-1100. Cash, VISA and Mastercard will be accepted for advance ticket orders only. The speedway is located on Benore Road at the I-75/Alexis Road exit on the Michigan-Ohio border. Do you mean the Super Shoe at Kalamazoo if so what do you want to know
Icechips
Or Auto City's Super Shoe.

Think both have pretty much the same rules, just $$ is quite difference.. thus probably 200 some cars at Kazoo and I don't know 50-60 at AC. Both have rules on their sites. Doesn't Kazoo get the Limit and Late Models?
