are they even going to open next year with it for sale?? or only if it sells?

All I can say is keep your eyes and ears open. And don't trust anything you hear, unless you hear it from someone representing the Owosso Speedway.
cpracer
Well for the good of the track lets all hope they sell and that the Tech man and Race director are gone.

dave said at the drivers meeting that the track is not for sale and they are looking to next year. he has a full time promotor that is living at the track in the mobile home. he will have full control next year. he was ED JONES RIGHT HAD MAN IN THE 80'S. HIS NAME IS BILL MORRIS. give him a call at the track with any questions. dave said this morning that the banquet will be the first sat. in december, more to follow on this later. he said it will be at gigi's house of catering in corunna. same as last year. good racing on sat. nice to see a good car count.thanks to all who came out, good show. have a save and happy winter.

congrats to dan bailey, wish i could have been there to see that win! good job.

Congrats Alex and Dan!!

Thanks to everybody that has helped me to have a good rookie season in the mod this year. Especially Sam at Windpushers, Claude Plante at DTS, Gavin Hunyady, Dan Logan for the great race engine, Mike Luckhurst for the help and Laci Donnert for tightening me up last night even though the car wasn't worth a crap. Oh well, there's always next year
stinkfist
Congrats Dan! Sometimes the slowest go cart wins.

I think the other SS team coming after them with the baseball bat and hammer may have gotten their blood flowing enough that Dan had alot of momentum to go out there and WIN!!!
Congrats Dan!

I didn't see the fight but if you look at the last 3 season champion nite race's is the one kid which is a friend of Ron Hauser has been in a fight at the track for the past 3 years, Why is he allowed to even come back to the track ? If you don't want any fight at the track don't let this kid back !
kaycorbgm
That fight with Ron's friend isn't a racer. He just hangs out there.

92 SS was dq'd for the bat/hammer thing. It was his dad that started that.

Isn't it one of the Baldwin brothers. Guys a class act!!!! icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif
Pinch
the 92 SS team wasn't dq'd , they didn't get the car put back together after the wreck
cpracer
Well if they werent DQ'ed for threatening someone with weapons or period they should have been.

Besides if they were working to fix the car instead of chasing people with a weapon they could have finished the car on time??? unsure.gif

Welch, Luckhurst, Puskarich, McMullen and Donnert Claim Championships at Owosso!
By: Chris Fobbe

Ovid, Mi(9/15)- This past Saturday the 2007 Racing season for the Owosso Speedway came to an epic conclusion following a season filled with great racing and exciting action all over the high banks of the historic Ovid track.

First on the track for their championship feature were the Mini-Stocks. Jeremy Whitehead would lead the field to the green. Chris Wood would slip past before the completion of the first lap, with Dan Gokee hot on his tail. Wood would lead just one lap, before Gokee would get past, with points leader coming into the night, Alex Donnert working his way through the field. Donnert’s charge to the front, however would be cut short, when he would spin in turn two, before getting hit by Jeremy Whitehead, taking his car out for the remainder of the race. Dan Gokee would pull away to win by a comfortable margin, with Shaun Conner coming home in second. Chris Wood would finish third with Jeremy Whitehead finishing fourth. Despite his wreck, Alex Donnert would finish fifth, and clinch the 2007 Owosso Speedway Mini-Stock Championship and Rookie of the Year Honors, despite being just 11 years old! Dan Gokee would win the heat race.

Next out on the track were the Nelson Collision Street Stocks. 13 cars would start the race, with Al Haskins leading them to the green flag. Before the first lap was complete, Dan Bailey would get around Haskins, and take the lead, despite the mechanical woes his machine had been facing the last two weeks. Leo Smith would spend many laps all over the back bumper of Dan Bailey, but that wouldn’t stop him, as Dan Bailey would go on to win his first feature in over five years. Leo Smith would finish second. John Forsythe, III, Mark Ragsdale and Lindsey Fausett would round out the top five. Matt Puskarich, despite a less than stellar run, would finish high enough to claim the 2007 Nelson Collision Street Stock Track Championship. Al Haskins and John Forsythe, III would take the heat races.

The 30-lap Affordable Tire & Service Center Late Model feature would see Mitch Holmes sitting on the inside front row. Holmes would lead the first lap, before Mike Samson would slip by to lead a few lap. But, Dave Bigos would be able to slip by on lap five to take the lead. Bigos would hold the lead for the rest of the race, taking the win, his first of the season. Ron Hauser would come in second, with Rick Chrisel, Dan Leeck and Mark Pettit rounding out the top five. Bigos and Jimmy O. Smith would take the heat races. Despite being taken out of the race due to mechanical woes, Mark Welch would claim the 2007 Affordable Tire & Service Center Late Model Track Championship on the strength of his nine wins at Owosso this year. Jerry Lupien would also be crowned Rookie of the Year for the division.

15 Hardcore Motorsports Modifieds would line up for their 30 lap feature, with veteran Larry Wallace leading them to the green flag. Wallace would lead the opening nine laps, as points leader coming into the night, Bill Luckhurst would creep up behind Wallace. On lap 10, Luckhurst would take the lead and never look back! Bill Luckhurst would take the win, and lock up the 2007 Hardcore Motorsports Modified Track Championship, the eighth of his career at the Owosso Speedway. Former Track Champion Todd Matheson would finish second, with larry Wallace hanging on for third. Former Street Stock Track Champion Mark Abee would finish fourth and Steve Bates would round out the top five. John Forsythe would claim Rookie of the Year Honors. Chaz Pray and Mark Abee would win the heat races.

15 Affordable Auto Pure Stocks would line up for their 20 lap Championship feature. Jeffery Hetfield would lead the field to the green, and would lead the first lap, before Michael Whittaker would get by for the lead. M. Whittaker would lead for two laps, before Ricky Moore would get by to take the lead. At the same time, points leader Mike McMullen was working his way up through the field from deep in the pack. McMullen would find himself able to make it all the way to second place, but couldn’t find a way around Ricky Moore. Ricky Moore would take the win, with Mike McMullen finishing second. Fred Adkins, Tim Leeck and Leroy Whittaker would round out the top five. By virtue of his runner-up finish in the feature, Mike McMullen would win the 2007 Affordable Auto Pure Stock Track Championship. Mike Ashford and Ricky Moore would win the heat races.

The 2007 racing season has concluded for the Owosso Speedway, but announcements concerning the 2007 Banquet and the 2008 racing season will be on the way shortly. Just a few months until we’re back at the Big O!

No disrespect Chris, but Alex didn't spin! He got taken out while passing a lapped car, who had bragged for two weeks that he was going to do it.

Hey Chris, great job by the way. There are a bunch of drivers that appreciate what you do for racing, keep up the good work. Karma is a good thing, just sometimes it takes a while to catch up with you, so hang in there. We'll catch you at the banquet.

Speed Sport News under their classified ads has a race track for sale with a phone number. When you reverse search that number, it belongs to a R. Hauser of Stockbridge, Michigan.

I'm going to go "off topic" here for a moment... hope no one minds TOO much!

I could have done this via a PM but sometimes, it needs to be done in public because it means more. I wanted to thank Chris for some of the stuff he has done and some of the stuff I intend to have him do in the future. Chris and I have been talking behind the scenes and I think this young man has a future in the business. I tried to get a special gig going for him before the season ended but it fell thru on my end and I apologize for that Chris! The failure to set that gig up in no way reflects on our work together in 2008. Stay tuned for 2008. Just because I will be in Florida does not mean I am done in Michigan. It is guys like Chris, like Jon Huston, Andy Jach, Ted Beebe, and the rest of the crews we are lining up that will make a splash in 2008. Some old things may become new again...somethings that aren't now may become a reality. I have a lot of things on our agenda for 2008 and with the growing crews we are assembling now will make 2008 all that much more exciting... watch for it!

This was from 9/1/07 it stated that Fred Parisian was disqaulified for having these tires on and winning.

The 55 car of Gokee had those same tires on at the season championship night and the tech officials allowed him to run them. Why was Gokee allowed to win with these tires and not Fred???

I dont care if Gokee won with these tires on but it isnt fair to take away another guys win is it?? unsure.gif

On Owosso's website it says that they COMBINED 06 and 07 rules, to allow the rear wheel drives is why the rule change. The tires were supposed to be the same as all the other tracks around.

Sorry the Pure Stock deal didn't work out. I'm looking forward to 08 regardless of who's announcing. I'm just ready to go racing. And it's not like I am desperate for the announcing job. after all, the pen is mightier than the sword, right? And I wield the pen. Muahahaha.
