LANDIS WINS THE BATTLE, COOK WINS THE SUPERPRO WAR

FT. WAYNE, IN. - Edgerton, Ohio veteran Jack Landis took the lead on lap 15 and went on to win the “Bollhoff Rivnut 50” for the Bollhoff Rivnut SUPERPRO Series Saturday night at Baer Field Speedway. With his runnerup finish, Ft. Wayne’s Tommy Cook became the 2007 SUPERPRO Champion.

Michael Tutino and Rick Everidge brought the field to the green with Everidge jumping into the early lead. Landis, who started seventh, began making his way through the field. He was fourth by lap 10, third by lap 12, second by lap 13 and moved past Everidge for the lead on lap 15. Cook followed Landis through the pack and moved into second on lap 16.

On lap 23, Michael Gaier, who started the night with a chance to catch Cook for the championship, got together with Everidge while battling for third. Everidge returned after changing a tire but Gaier’s evening and his championship chances ended with the incident.

The final caution of the event came on lap 38 when young Tyler Roahrig collided with Mike Kugler, sending Roahrig to the tail. At the finish, it was Landis, Cook, Kugler, Al Cook, Jr., and Roahrig in the top 5. Kevin Todd, Everidge, Tutino, Royce Mason II, and Jason Snyder rounded out the top ten. Landis won the All Star Performance Hard Charger Award along with the Aluminum Racing Products - Q Racing and Corrigan Oil Fast Qualifier Award.

Cook used consistency throughout the 2007 season to win his first SUPERPRO Championship. His worst finish of the campaign was seventh. He will be officially crowned champion at the Bollhoff Rivnut SUPERPRO Banquet to be announced at a later date.

4th fastest, sat back and placed 5th to win title. Track was extremely slick with the cold weather so, it wasn't worth smashing up just to get the win. It was a clean wreck free race but, IT WAS COLD! The car was up to Howe Monday AM and was ready for us Monday afternoon.(new clip). The boys got it back together, wrapped, and scaled by late Friday night. Bubba did a burnout that you would be proud of after the race.
