Full Version: A HUGE SUCCESS THANKS TO ALL OUR NEIGHBORS!
Michigan Short Track Racing Club > Race Tracks > Pavement Tracks
racnpartsales
The Whittemore Speedway wishes to thank everyone who made this the biggest attendance invitational ever! We had drivers from all over Gods creation and it was very good hard racing with the biggest festive atmosphere we have ever had. All of you south and north who have made this a success please give yourselves a pat on the back and know that we really appreciated seeing you this weekend. It was great to meet face to face some of our mstrc friends and I hope you had a great time. As ususal you guys brought the best of the best to run with us and it was a sight to behold on Whittemores high banked 1/4 mile.

I know that we have a few more believers when we say we have the best of the best here at our invites. You guys prove it time and again. Thank you all so very much for attending.

We appreciate you spending the weekend with your friends up north. Thank you, Jeff Parish WRC President 2007

The best part about it was. I dont think I seen ANYONE get anything more then maybe a flat tire. There was no serious cautions and I'm 99% positive that most everyone unloaded their cars the way they showed up with them. I wish I would have brought the truck, however...stuff happens...

Thanks for putting on a great show!!

Bob, Thanks for the support all along, we are looking at the things that we can learn and try and improve this for next time. We are trying to adjust and make things smoother for next years invite. We were more organized this year and most had a really great time, but we can do better. Everyone involved is communicating the problems areas we had and the practical solutions.

We had a great time. Bob you didnt happen to get to sample any of the event the prior 2 days before the race did you? That is getting to be as big as the actual racing!

I will add that I got to spend a few minutes with Josh Donnert the winner of the truck give away. What a nice young guy. We are at work today getting the paperwork finalized for the deal at the dealership mid week. Congrats to Josh!!!!

Looks like I'll be leaving my truck at home next season, got someone to tow my stuff for me. biggrin.gif You want to talk about a lucky guy, I asked the rookie to come up and drive our race car for us since Alex was too young. So not only did Josh win a super nice ride for the next few years, he got to race at Whittemore on someone else's dime also. And he made the family proud, finishing 7th against those heavy hitters in those four cylinders.
We all had a great time. Awesome little track with a very good staff. We got treated very well. This was my second trip up to Whittemore, and looking forward to going next year. Thank you very much Jeff and staff.

Jeff about the only thing I saw an issue with is the out of town LS cars having to park out in the parking lot. If you cut a tire your done. Are you guys looking into a solution for that?
racnpartsales
Chad, We are at work right now coming up with an improvement plan for the back pit entrance that you are speaking of. The plan will be for that to be the main entrance with some reconfiguration going on in the approaches and the grounds. Our pit slabs are a deal when you purchase them you get them for the whole year so we had to with that many cars ask the higher ground clearance vehicles to park in the spill off area. Hopefully we can have an more improved area by next spring that everyone will be driving across on to get into the pits. If we have that many cars again (which we should because of planned increases in purse and promotions) It will be a good problem to have to work through. Maybe a staging area just for tires would be a good solution when there is a flat. Probably the next best thing is to make a deal with someone who is pitted near the exit to leave a couple tires and jack in their stall for the duration of the features. We will work on that. Im glad you mentioned it.
stinkfist
Joe Hogison let us use his slab after he was finished racing, so we took Duane, Chad, and Nicks tires over to his slab during the race. (Thanks a bunch Joe..You know your the man!) Even if you could work something out like that for the racers out there.

Sound like everyone had a ball, I hope I can make it next season!

I had a great time last weekend if anyone had asked they could have put their tires at my hauler

It didn't effect my finish any but I would have prefered to have the truck give away in between features instead of in the middle of the feature
kaiserfan
No Jeff i wasn't able to makeit up till Saturday morning but i had a great breakfast at the firehall may be next year i will be able to make it on Friday glad everyone enjoyed themselves Chad did the speed of some of the lead sleds suprise you been a long time since i have seen anyone pass you once you got out front thanks for being there

I knew it was going to happen, I seen some of those car up there were way more than what we had had, they had full cages and i think the 8 inch wheels and dual exhaust made a big difference. I had a blast

Racer 98,
We had to draw for the truck between 9:00 and 9:30 to make the raffle legal. So, we had to chose to wait 10-15 minutes to start your race or hope the LLM finished in time. Which looked like it was going to happen until that caution for cleanup, but unfortunately we had to hold the race to draw. Glad you had a good time.

Because there was a legitimate reason for drawing when they did It seems a lot better than if they just had the drawing in the middle of the feature.

It isn't a Whittemore thing first off.

Is this the first time you have ever noticed I have curly hair Laci??? You need to move your eyes up a little more often young man. My "fro" isn't anything new. I can grow it out whenever I please, and right now, I please. You don't like it?? Most guys my age can only DREAM of growing such a head of hair!!! And NO, IT IS NOT A PERM!!!!! All natural baybee!!!

I dare to be different from time to time. Plus I look up to a guy nicknamed "the racing hippie", the least I can do is try and help him keep the "look" alive. Plus, my real boss LOVES my hair like this!!! My wife, not so much, and she hates the goatee thing. Mustache she is ok with.

Now, what's up with your hair?? I could of sworn there was a fair percentage of gray in there!!!!! What I could see...........................

Funny Gavin.

But the thing is, I've had that look way before he came along. I got some High School pictures that, well, lets just say I've been able to grow a "fro" for a while.

Yeah, but when you were in high school it was a lot more popular. They did all kinds of crazy things back in the early sixties, I mean for an example people would pay money for a "pet rock".
Gavin said Boris Said, but I was thinking Napoleon Dynamite. LOL
You didn't see any gray hairs on my head buddy. My thirteen year old daughter dyed my hair for me. I made her do it because my children were pointing out that I had a COUPLE of grays. cool.gif I shall stay (and act) young for as long as possible.

So YOU dyed your hair???? BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! And your, HOW old??? Couple?? Now THAT'S funny!!!!

So you never answered my question, do you like it???

There are far worse things to be compared to than Napoleon Dynamite. I wouldn't know about the crazy things they did in the early sixties, maybe Chris can help us there, but in the 70's, I can relate. Trends come back, always do. You wait, everyone will be sportin a fro before too long, those that CAN anyways!!!!

Maybe if you hold on to those transformers and other toys long enough, they'll come back too!!!!

Do I like it? I almost didn't recognize you at first lol. Its fine if you are comfortable with it, then grow it bigger I don't have to see you on a regular basis.
32 years old (and a half), but I told you, I'm not getting or acting old.
Thanks to the movie (which I just seen at the IMAX Monday night) Transformers are back! Have you been down the toy aisle lately? All kinds of new Transformers to get.
I'll tell you what, with TWO teenage daughters and a son like Alex, how could any one not have a couple of grays? Most recently dyed black. But my hair has been blond, blue, and red before with a tail, super long, shaved completely bald, and once even had a Mohawk (I won a bet) but never a perm or an afro.
BigEd
I knew that Transformer comment would get you going, but you see, they came back too!!!

You would look all right with a FRO, you should give it a try!!

Gavin, I don't know how to post old pictures like that, it's an old polaroid, from the early 80's. If you can show me how, I'll post it.

And the kids giving you gray hair don't fly with me. You've met my daughter, Amanda, she's 20 now, and married, no gray hairs here, and I'm 44!!!!

Anyways Laci, c'mon up to the Savoy Bar & Grill tonight in Saginaw for Race Talk. The FRO will be in full bloom, and if your nice to me, I'll even let you...... touch it!!!

Big Ed

Oh, and as far as the Napoleon Dynamite reference, you guys are just jealous, I've been talking to chics on line all day!!!!
