One of our members came up (Andy) with a name for our invitational in the fall. Most big shows get a NAME that describes them.
What do you guys think of "The Shoot-out"
We get a lot of big guns that come to battle it out. Seems fitting. We are taking a poll. Do you like it?
Full Version: Whats in a name?
You know, as customary as it might be. I do think that the North/South Shootout is a very good fit 
I agree with Kyle because the invitation always seem to be the northern guys from whittemore and northern mich and such vs. all them guys from down south at dixie and ac and owosso. North/South shootout sounds good.

Whittemore shouldn't be in the name of the race. If Whittemore is used in the race name, it would make it sound more like a local race instead of a big-time event.
Although, the critics will say otherwise:
The Daytona 500
The Indianapolis 500
But I don't think the "Whiittemore 500" would work.
However, a combination of two suggestions already used might be OK and here is my first suggestion:
"The Super Shootout".

I like having the name of the track in the name because it provides immediate information on where the race is at. Like the Kalamazoo Klash or the Dixie Classic, but I can also see Maurice's side on it sounding like a local event as well.
The North vs. South Shootout is being used in a lot of places like the ASA Late Models and the World Fig-8 Championships at the Speedrome, which is why I proposed the "War at Whittemore." People seem to like alliteration.

I like that or Fall Nationals. I also like the Iidea of a north vs south/ upstate vs downstate kind of theme. North heats and south heats then line up your best 20-24 cars odd even!

Laci, I agree... I would make it a 3 day event though. They definately pack them in up there. I have always liked 3 day race weekends!
Friday: Practice like this years.
Saturday: Qualify, Run heats, maybe have a AP for top 8-10 qualifiers, possibly run B-Mains. And then have some type of cookout to benefit the track. For Ex. a pig roast but take donations to help the track.
Sunday: I know this might sound crazy but I'd like to see a Final hot lap before the A-Main call it "Happy Hour." Gives the people who made the race another chance to make sure their hot rod is ready. Then have the A-Mains for all Divisions participating! Just an idea.
TATER 3 DAYS! WE WOULD HAVE TO GO ON VACATION FOR 3 DAYS AFTER LOL! ITS WED AND IM JUST KNOW FEELIN BETTER LOL! YOU SHOULD OF STAYED IT WAS A BLAST ,NEXT TIME YOU ARE NOT LEAVING FOR THE CAMP GROUND THOUGH! LOVE YA MOM! 
I liked the way it is just a two day if you are hauling from a distance it is nice to have all day sunday to get home. I think it would be nice if the drivers had the raceceivers even if they were optional and only some drivers had them it would help with the line ups.
