What a night.
Blew the rear end in practice. Missed qualifying because we were swapping out axles into the other housing that dad went home to grab in a borrowed car (thanks dave!).
White flag lap in the heat race going down the backstretch, Kyle in the #87 truck blew his motor, I missed Vance Wilmoth who was right infront of me (who ended up plowing the wall) but nailed Callahan while sliding sideways... Ended up shoving the back end of his truck into the fuel cell, thankfully Kyle and Vance were both alright.
Long story short,
snapped the axle
bent the rear end housing
ripped the upper control arm
destoryed the right rear rim/tire
blew out the master cylinder on the brakes
tore up the right side of the truck body
ripped out some of the down tubes
Still have to pull the truck out of the trailer to inspect it further...
But, the team tech motor sports safety equipment did its job... Im a little sore up by my shoulders, but less sore than a good workout will give you. We've run Team Tech saftey equipment in our trucks/cars since day one, and will continue to do so. Very high quality product, and I recemend them to everyone.
Oh, and I did finish the heat race... limped across the line with only the right rear caliper holding the axle in place.
Tuff break for #87 too, as he had a great run going in the heat race.

VanDoorn did an awesome job getting through the traffic and showing patience for a 19 year old. And I think the fans liked the polish victory lap with the checkered flag-that's old school....Kudos to John Grega too for winning the Dixie Cup points deal. From what I was told, a Port City car won all of the Dixie Cup races this year-great job to PCR.

I thought the #16 car was a Hamke car.

Steele does have a Hamke car, that is the car that he crashed at Toledo earlier this year, resulting in him retiring. The car VanDoorn drives...Port City....and VanDoorn's CRA car is a Port City as well.

Vandoran showed more patience working the lapped traffic than the veteran and much faster Doering. the kid did a good job

Thank you 21racing, I'm assuming your related or a fan of Johnny's. I knew when Steele drove there was a Hamke sticker on that thing. I like to watch Johnny run, it was fun sitting behind his family (I'm guessing it was anyway) at M-40 for The Jones this year.
