So who did win at either track?

Just on curiousity... when did Dixie run the SLM race. I almost went after I finished at AC, but figured nothing would be running 10:30-11.... whenever it went we finished.

Dixie was Van Doorn, Grega, Doering, Hantz

Hands down the best super race I've seen all year. Doering was just stupid fast all night. Van Doorn caught him but had to use a lapper as a pick to get by. Doering got tangled with a lapper with 16 to go and went back to I think 9th and beat Hantz to the line for third. Awesome show, 240 laps of features and done by 10:15

Heck of a good race, I am suprised a little that Doering got caught up behind the lapper and Vandoorn slipped through. Looked like a pretty clean pass? I was most impressed with the Red #40 form the West side of the state. Spaulding? He started like 18th or so and finished 5th. Sure there was some attrition put he passed alot of cars. Looked like the car was running hot all night but he still moved up through the field. He was getting out motored as everybody would pull him on the straightaways but he got through the corners very well. I dont ever remember seeing a car rotate so well. Is this the same guy who also runs Dirt? I have heard his name before. Anybody?

I am getting very impressed with this Vandoorn kid, I think he may have potential.

Curt is a regular at M40 and Kalamazoo. He is a general manager at Lane Automotive too. I told him I had a great time racing him all night, he laughed and said he followed me for 125 laps lol.

We lost our radio for most of the second half of the race so I started running a bit conservative and he was getting better as the night went and got a great finish out of it, congrats to him and his team.

Yes, Curt Spalding also runs a dirt late model, as well as racing at KZOO and M40.

We were running hot all night and probably at least 75hp under the front runners with our lower power Kazoo motor. We had to pit once as water was running off the RR and Curt thought he had a flat. Curt's first view of the track was his hotlap session. After watching the regulars and their horsepower advantage we knew handling was our only option to advance forward. Our goal at noon was top ten and the top 5 was awesome for Curt and the crew. Thanks to the track staff who treated us great in our first venture to Dixie. Next year we'll look for a few more ponies. It was nice to run with actual SLM's for a change, on the westside for the most part we are on bricks.

I'll pass on the compliment to Curt, he is a five time Hartford Champ, former Michigan State UMP mod champ. Kazoo feature winner, and over 60 other feature wins. To date this year he has competed at Kazoo, Dixie, M40, New Paris, Eldora, Thunderbird, I-96, Oakshade, Hartford, and I know I'm missing a few others. As posted you can follow Curt at russrace and link to his personal site. Check out Doug Swifts links for dozens of Spalding pics.

Claude...how was the food at Applebee's?

Take a look at me, do you think I ever complain about food being bad? lol

Looked on Columbus' site.... Terry Senneker won.... that's all they had. They said had 40 SLMs... think only a handful ran at Toledo.

How many SLMS were at Dixie?

CP, you had the best looking car at Dixie Saturday, nice job by you just to stay on the lead lap, especially as fast as Doering was. I think there were 8 cars on the lead lap at the half way mark and the same 8 cars on the lead lap at the end. Think about how many quality cars you stayed in front of, good job out there.

I appreciate that very much. To be honest we were off in comparison to how we have run lately. We did not know that we were running our car until late Thursday night so I took the day off of work Friday and worked all morning till night to get it done and just plain missed the setup.

All in all I was hapy, I just rode the first 75 laps but then tried to make the car better in the second half but I think that the other guys were better too lol.

Thanks again, Claude
