Super shoe was an awesume show one of the best i have seen in the last six years. Dispite alot of wrecks on day three.

What a weekend; perfect weather, 243 hotrods, a packed grandstands both days, a campground where the party never seemed to end, and a last lap pass to decide the winner of this years Super Shoe. A congratulations goes out to the Super Shoe of Kenny Head, as he passed Brandon Lyons on the last corner of the last lap, that had the crowd going wild. The B Feature went to the only driver who has participated in all 21 Super Shoe events; the Ironman of Rich Hardy, edging out Chris Nash. Mickey Cornwell took home the C Main, as he edged out Jeff Vochaska with just a handful of laps to go. And last but not least, the D Feature went to Calvin Bear, with Larry Saunders finishing second.

first time a have went to the super shoes in about 15 years and it was a very entertaining show. i was mildly dissappointed by the car count in the mods though. i thought they would have more cars for what they were paying. does anybody know if there was a usa mod show this weekend? if so i could understand why none of them showed up. other than that i had a very good time, to bad someone on this side of the state couldnt run something that is comparable and not on the same weekend as the original.

Guessing the "D" winner was Calvin "Bear" Kelley in the 136 car...

...wasn't there...but just a hunch.

Old84, There was no USA mod this weekend, these 3 day show are why to much money to go to!! Between all the pit passes and reg.

Bob, you are correct on the #136 Calvin "Bear" Kelley winning the D Main. As for the mod count, I talked to one driver and he said he had talked to some of the Indiana guys and they didn't want to run there because of tire soaking. Only reporting what I was told. I think there were 20 mods in the feature. Dan Loughan crashed and didn't run the feature, or that would've been 21.

i here ya joe i have been there and done that. we raced at angola back in the early 90's and it was a 3 day show also. had to take friday off work etc. went to 4 or 5 dealers choices to and actually had to take thursday and friday off also so i know it can get pretty expensive!! i really would like to see a mod show at k-zoo though without tire soaking and when it doesnt conflict with any other shows. i think you, tony and some of the local guys could do real well over there if everything was equal. i would definitely go and see something like that but i dont know how much interest people over here would have in travelling that far away.

There is a show, its called weekly racing series every Saturday during racing season.

Think you can do well on a one night visit-there is guys that have raced Kalamazoo Speedway for years that don't do well.

Not sure why you thought that the mods had a conflict with the Modified Nationals and the Super Shoe running the same weekend.

i think you missed my point because it was pointed toward the guys from over towards the eastside. they ran at dixie on saturday night because of a cancellation of there show 2 weeks earlier. therefore nobody would have went to k-zoo. and as far as going to k-zoo and doing well i agree it is a very difficult place to just "show up" at and do well. we raced there in the early 90's with the modifieds way before they were a weekly show, guys like the governor will still remember that i bet. that was also the first time anybody had ever seen the mods and it was still imca at that time to. i myself always enjoyed taking our cars there whether it be our street stock, prostock or modified for the specials they had. we also won a feature there in the old thundermod class that most people dont even remember.

I remember that race. icon_smile.gif
ISMA Supermodifieds were there too and I do believe Joe Gosek won the Feature.

I beleive the thundermods looked like this -

This car and driver finished third at that race, behind Dan Bailey and Roger Wing.
