Lexington, Michigan (10/03/2007): 2007 ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division Presented by GM Performance Parts Champion, Travis Dassow is already beginning to experience the benefits of becoming an ASALMS Champion.

His predecessors before him, 2005 ASALMS Challenge Division Champion, Stephen Leicht, who would go on to sign with Robert Yates Racing and is currently a Top 10 contender and one-time Feature winner in the NASCAR Busch Series in the #90 Citi Financial Ford Fusion.

Also 2006 Champion and Pat Bourdow Memorial Rookie of the Year, Kelly Bires, who signed with Wood Brothers JTG Racing and started the 2007 campaign in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series before moving up to the NASCAR Busch Series and now drives the #47 Clorox/Armor All Ford Fusion.

Dassow will first compete in the ASALMS Northern Division Season Championships / Oktoberfest 100 this Saturday October 6, 2007 at the LaCrosse (WI) Fairgrounds Speedway in an event that has no points implications for the 20-year-old.

Then Dassow will take that next step up the proverbial racing ladder when he makes his NASCAR Craftsman Trucks Series debut on October 20, 2007 at the Martinsville (VA) Speedway in Martinsville, Virginia for Hass/CNC Racing in the running of the Kroger 250. The race will be televised live on SPEED at 2:30pm (EST).

The West Bend, Wisconsin driver will steer the #8 MRD Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado as part of the Haas CNC Racing Driver Development Program. Chad McCumbee will remain the primary driver of the #8 through the remainder of the season. Before McCumbee, Blake Bjorkland has been steering the truck before moving up the NASCAR Busch Series.

“This is a dream come true. I never expected this to happen so soon.” An elated Dassow said after hearing the news that he would be making his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Debut. “I hope we can follow in the footsteps of Stephen (Leicht) and Kelly (Bires) and continue to represent the ASA Late Model Series as well as those two have.” The 20-year-old added.
