Full Version: Frank Kimmel Series?
Michigan Short Track Racing Club > Race Tracks > Pavement Tracks

Well I recieved my new stock car racing mag and in it they have a article that tells about Franks new street stock series. Basically he is going to run 4 races, one at kentucky motor speedway one at salem raceway, and one at bristol motor speedway with the 4th race still to be determined between nashville or charlotte.

I know I am going to plan on bristol for sure!!

The other thing is that they are only going to have 99 cars instead of the 300 like they wanted at kentucky. Also the payout is going to be structured to pay all competitors something instead of nothing.

if you get the chance read the article because I know I got excited over the whole deal.

Hi Jerry,
I talked to Frank Kimmel about this race last year at MIS. I wanted to go to the Kentucky race but was committed to be at Springport. I would love to be a part of it. If you need any help you know my number, give me a call.

Here’s a clip from the Kentucky race last year.

Personally I can’t see running on the big tracks like this being much fun with the restricted speeds they mandate, other then to say you ran on the track. The goal was to keep the cars to around 115 mph. With a 1.5 mile track and this slow of speed you would just be holding your foot to the floor and cursing around.

Now on the other hand tracks like Bristol or Salem sound like a blast to run on. They should be able to allow the cars to go without speed limiters and actually give you a chance to drive the car.

A Dover or Richmond race would even be better. I think they could let the cars go on these tracks with out being worried about excessive speed also.

No, most street stocks around here ARE NOT legal! We all have aluminum intakes and almost all have roller rockers. So we are not legal!

The rules wont be posted until at the earliest December. Atleast thats what Frankie told me, since Frank Kimmel and Tri State Motorsports have just parted ways things are crazy with Frank right now.
