I'm just wondering if anyone is going to put together anything for an online race season this winter?

You talking about papyrus? If you are I will race one night a week and know a couple of others who might as well. I guess thier servers are down, but we may be able to do some IP races.

all really depends on what game you have since there are many different racing sims out there today.

Dirt Track Racing 2 (DTR2)-An oldie but still used by many for their dirt fix. This game is slowly getting phased out but you can usually find the hardcore online racers still on Gamespy from time to time. A lot of different cars and tracks to download for this game, which makes it appeal to all. Also, the $10 price tag appeals to many.

Nascar Racing 2003 Season (N2k3)-One of the better racing games ever made. However this game was discontinued and finding a copy less than $100 on eBay is very VERY rare. I used to have the hookup in getting it but unfortunately don't have that luxury anymore. If you can somehow get your hands on a copy of the game then finding a league to run in shouldn't be hard at all. Has many mods to it so you don't have to race the Nascar's specifically. There has even been a COT mod made for the game, making it more "up to date." Dale Jr even has his own site dedicated to his online racing league using N2k3.

rFactor-A VERY new game to the racing community. Mainly used for dirt late model racing (diRtFactor) so I'm totally out of the loop if there are any leagues out there to run. If curious, go over to http://www.dirtfactor.net, sign up, and go into the forums and start asking question about the game and finding leagues to join. A few good mods out there for this game, which almost promises to be a hit here soon.

Also, to get a league started here through MSTRC you are almost going to need a dedicated server that you can host races on every week. Since a dedicated server costs money, you are going to need to find someone to pay for that server. If you want to go a cheaper route, you can find a racer with a very good internet connection (preferably cable connection) that wouldn't mind hosting the races themselves. The only downfall is if someone wants to practice with another racer online and neither has the high speed connection, their practice session is worthless since the connection speed they practice on won't be the same as what it would be on race day. Another alternative would be to run an offline league (like I wanted to earlier this year) so that everyone could have a league to run in and wouldn't have a dedicated time and place to meet every week, which some people hate to do or have an internet connection that is subpar.

I just miss the days of SVORS!!!!! DTR2 was our choice at the time and I still love that game! I think I finished 5th in points the last year I ran and I had a handful of wins.(which of course came with some controversy). I do have cable but I don't know if I want to host. Keep this thread going...maybe someone will get the itch to play again.................CHUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A friend of mine who is a avid NC2003 player told me that now that the papyrus servers are down you can use a burnt version of NC2003. If we can get a group together I can stream the game to whoever is interested in racing. Just let me know who is in and we can make it happen.

I might be up for some online racing if it were WoO by ratbag. I'd rather not buy another game or spend a lot of time hacking a new one.

I can't drive one of those damn sprint cars! I never did get the hang of it.

World of Outlaws for PS2 is one of the better (maybe the BEST) racing game out for that system. Just fantastic play and yet not many knew it was even produced. I never played the PC version of WoO but I'm guessing it was just as good as the PS2 version. Definitely better gameplay than their first attempt at sprint cars with DTR: Sprint Cars.

To buy another racing game really all depends on what people decide to race. I think the best option out today for a fun league would be to run DTR2. Game is very inexpensive (can usually find it at WalMart for anything between $5 and $10) and easily modded. DirtWizard.net came out with a newer late model chassis a couple years ago that made the cars look more realistic and just over a year ago they came out with a whole set of different chassis styles that all had a different feel (the Generation III late model). Then to find a setup for the late models isn't that much harder. You can probably even go to Google or Yahoo! and type in DTR2 late model setups and it will give a whole list of sites that cater to that such thing.

To Stinkfist:
Problem with a burnt CD of Nascar 2003 is that it needs a cd key in order to install. Since the game is already hard to find, cd keys for the game are even harder to find, in some cases, impossible. If you somehow find a cd key and get it to work you cannot register your version with Papyrus since they have all registered versions on file.

In the meantime, I'll just play my DTR2 offline by myself!!!!!!!!

I would be interested in racing on-line if it wasn't to costly to start. It sounds like it could be fun racing on-line.

Papyrus servers are closed you no longer need to register new games. old keys work. According to some of my buddies who run leagues.

If anyone wants to run in a league I can send burnt versions and keys to you. They also have key generators for NC2003. Your biggests expense will be to get a good wheel. Anywhere from 120-250 for a pretty good one. I reccomend the MOMO force. I love mine.

I'd like one.......even if we don't run anything online. I never had the game but would really like to run it.

I agree. I would like one too.
Spedy
I just ordered Nascar Sim Racing to give that a shot, but I'd like to play NC2003

If you guys want, I can hook you up with the NASCAR Heat Mod Laucnher and send you guys the ASA Late Model addon they have. It's nothing too "real" like they are in NR2K3 or Rfactor, but its still really fun. Me and Grant Campau on here have been running the SuperModifieds they have also.
Grant Campau
ive got the paved sim and this DiRT sim that kyle showed me. i cant get those dirt cars to handle though. the supermods are fun. ran a 9.88 on clover valley last night. least i thought that was fast haha.
