FYI
I had a conversation with Bill the other day when he called my place of employment about getting news on the race track in my paper.

He has been here on our site and he said he said he has learned from "US" he doesn't know anything about running a race track.
I'm at fault with my comments - as well as others - I told him we are sometimes a very disfunctional club but we mean no harm to him.
There is some bad blood with many and the track (that is where the negativity comes from) - hopefully he can make things better.

I'm going to contact Bill and invite him to the bowling tournament so we all can meet him and welcome him to our little club!!!
MyOpinion
Had a conversation with him recently, and he seems like a good guy. Knows what he's talking about.

I remember Bill with the Busch series and remember him doing a good job . As far as I can see , Owosso is making the necesary steps to become what it once was . May be a Friday night track is in the future ?

I HAVE HAD THE HONOR TO DO A LOT OF WORK WITH BILL SINCE HE HAS BEEN HERE AT OWOSSO. HE HAS ALL THE RIGHT INTENTION TO MAKE A GO OF THIS TRACK. HE HAS PUT A LOT OF WORK INTO IT ALL READY THAT NO ONE SEE'S YET. JUST GIVE HIM A CHANCE BEFORE YOU CUT HIM DOWN. HE WANTS THE SAME THINGS YOU ALL WANT, TO SEE THE TRACK BACK TO WHAT IT USE TO BE. IF THERE IS ANY CONCERNS YOU CAN CALL THE TRACK AND TALK TO HIM. HE LIVES AT THE TRACK IN THE TRAILER. IF HE IS NOT IN, LEAVE HIM A MESSAGE, AND HE WILL CALL YOU BACK. THANKS GUYS AND HAVE A GOOD AND SAFE WINTER.

Bill was one of the speakers at the M.A.R.F.C. meeting tonight and gave us a nice intro to himself and his plans and goals for getting Owosso back on track. He is a very personable and knowledgable individual who appears to have a good common sense approach to gaining back fans and drivers by bringing the "FUN" back into the racing experiance! Give him time and cooperation and if left alone to do his job, Owosso may regain some of her old glory.

Does this Bill have a last name? Where did he come from? What are some of his plans?
governor
If this is the same Bill Morris that used to be involved with the Mi snowmobile racing assn, from back in the 70's, then I think your fears can be put to rest.

Bill was a very hands on person when involved with snowmobile racing and could bring some overall experience with racing that has been lacking with the last 2 promoters.

Does that mean Owosso is back as a member of MARFC? It would be a great step in the right direction for the track.

That is the exact question I asked Bill Saturday night. He said that he would love to get Owosso back in the good graces of the fan club.

Good move indeed.

My conversations with Bill on Saturday were very nice. He has the best interest of the speedway in his plans, and wants nothing but success for Owosso. He has numerous ideas to try and get this done, and I wish him nothing but the best.

He admitted to being a "lurker" here, but not a posting member, and that probably won't change. But he will be reading our thoughts and comments.

Owosso is not back as a member of MARFC. That will stop that rumor, hopefully before it starts.

There have been no discussions between Management and the Board of Directors concerning this issue at this point. I would never rule out the possibility of it happening someday but at this point that is not a reality.

Bill was at the meeting and asked to speak about the speedway. I have met him and he seems to me to be no nonsense, personable, and seems to know just what it takes to do the job he has been hired to do. When the man takes the job and moves on to the speedway property, that tells me that he truly wants to do a good job and see the speedway return to it's former glory.

Personally, I have some feelings that I would rather not discuss here in public about past events but you never know, feelings can change. I will say that I dearly love Owosso Speedway but have not attended the past few years. I hope to change that in the future as I see that the speedway can make a comeback provided Bill is allowed to do his job and call the shots that he needs to call in order to be successeful.

But, back to the original statement, Owosso is not a MARFC Member.

Well, I'm glad to hear that Owosso has somebody in control that can make a change, and from reading on the other post about it, he has been making changes. If this continues, I may have another race track to go watch races at again. I hope so, cause I love Owosso Speedway. I still believe they have the best track for racing.

Bill Morris' title would be General Manager I believe. Dave Bigos is still the primary owner. Not sure about Ron's status.
kaycorbgm
Thats why there was a ? at the end of the sentence instead of a .

Was there any statements about what night he planned on running since there is speculation/statements/rumors Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays?
BigEd
Elaine,

He said the very same thing WE have been saying. They are at the mercy of the County. He mentioned that some legal dealings before Dave & Ron bought the place left the ONLY days Owosso could have any type of "racing activity" is Wednesday's (one car at a time), and Saturdays. Until proper legal measures can be taken (paid for) to try and initiate a change in this policy, Saturday is the ONLY day Owosso can hold races.

They really do not have the choice to switch days at this time. And to do it, it would cost a lot of money in legal fees just to get the county to LISTEN!!!! And then that would not guarantee they would allow a switch.
wallbanger
Saturdays! because of township/county regulations.
team21
Owosso still can run Saturday's and be just fine . The track's in Michigan do not have to move around Dixie to operate, Dixie will do just fine and Owosso will be fine with someone that can run the track and do just that.............Joe
mod911
Bill, if you are out there lurking somewhere you should get on here and say what you have to say to us here cause we don't all go to meetings and such. My thoughts are to go to Dixie next year and I agree with that move to Saturday.
This is the time, before we decide where to go to speak up. Everyone knows the complaints about Owosso Speedway so we do not need to go over them again. Tell us your plan.
Don't forget that most fans come because they know someone racing and would come rarely if their person wasn't racing there. I am such a fan. I will drive to Toledo on Friday if the right people were racing. I would not drive to Owosso(5 min) if I did not know the drivers. A lot of our fans know everyone in the race and that is the best of all. They will come if moma can pee in cleanliness and feel safe to send the kids to play on the swings.
This is a people sport. All Nascars look the same it is the people who make it a sport.
