The problem wasn't with Kasey, it was with his brother, Kale Kahne, who didn't have the proper credentials to enter the motorhome area. But it was Kasey who complained and did the shoving. Could have been handled easily by having the right credentials.

It doesn't matter, what'd they think Kale was a terrorist? He's been Kahne's spotter since Kasey started in Cup. I think the security guy got zealous and saw $$$$$ signs.

To me , I thought it was pretty simple, security has a job to do, no one inside without credentials. Kale is not a well known face to someone who only works this security two times a year, or maybe this was his first time doing this. It was just my point that if people follow rules things are much smoother. If you have your credentials on like they are supposed to be no one gets questioned. If at local tracks you don't have credentials (arm band, pit pass,) you don't go in the pits.

I have to laugh every time I see the word credentials. At home I have all the credentials ever issued to me during my NASCAR days. I am a pack rat I guess. But its a lot of them.
The job these security guys have is nearly impossible sometimes. Working a race is also nearly impossible. When I arrived at the track I had to visit the office and sign in. There I was issued my credentials for the weekend. This included ( and I am as serious as a heart attack ) :
Pit Row Pass ( during practice hours )
Pit Row Pass ( during racing )
Paddock parking permit
Media room pass
Radio room pass
Garage pass
If I was invited up to a corporate suite by a corporation then I was also issued
a suite pass and also a terrace suite pass if needed.
So there you have it. When I attended a Cup race I had a total of 8 passes in my credential holder at one time. I was chatting with Childress and a GM SPO official once in the garage and they asked me " ever figured out what the hell all those passes meant ? " I couldn't help but laugh and told them " beats the hell out of me but they let me go where I want to go because security hasn't figured out what they all mean yet ".
It is a frigging zoo in the garage area. So I can see why security gets uptight and always asks for credentials. They are told too.

I am sure he had a hard card as well. Things have changed in the hard card department. Because I worked with several teams I had to go through NASCAR and the individual tracks for credentials.
They have come down hard the last couple years on security and credentials. While everyone knew who I was in the garage area, the security guards were a different story. New faces nearly everyday.

I still find it hard to believe that Kahne can even knock someone down....didn't think 12 year olds could work security!!!!!!!

Here's the police report and witness statements from Kasey (the elderly security guard pusher) Kahne's detention.

Sad. Very sad. This same type of pushing incident happened at Bristol and Tony skated on the charges.
When an incident like this takes place with a NASCAR driver, Helton and France step in and remind the city attorney, mayor and anyone else in power just how much money NASCAR brings to their community. A small payment is made behind the scenes to the victim, the prosecutor under pressure from politicians and NASCAR drops the charges and the NASCAR brats skate out the door with no charges against them.
Everything is then silenced and you never hear another thing about it. It's buried and everyone moves on. The only time you ever hear of any charges sticking is when its a no name driver in NASCAR from the lower divisions.
It's the American way. Money and power can buy you anything your heart desires.

With a month of silence on the matter, I thought that the hush money was already delivered. With the spot light on the Cup Series as main stream, somehow, I don't think this is going away. The other major sports have adjusted to public opinion and adopted harder policies with their players. The Brass at NASCAR may have to adopt similar policies to look competitive with stick and ball boys.

Funny how the original story I read said it was all Kasey's brother that had caused the problem! It sounds like he had his credentials in order. I wish I could find it now.
It seems that Kale was trying to keep from having any confrontation in the witnesses stories

Anytime there are no citizens who are considered un-biased witnesses.... I always suspect a conspiracy among the Law enforcement officers. Every one of those witness statements was made by a COP after all the COPS sat around and got their stories all how they wanted them to be.
The incident never should have happened, and I believe that the old man at the gate had no clue who any of these racers are...Otherwise he (the guard) would have been asking for Kale's credentials instead of Kasey's.
