We got into a pretty nasty wreck at Dixie on the last night and I'm still to this day suprised that it did not explode in the wreck as the fuel cell guard and back tube was jammed right into the fuel cell and punctured it very slightly (thank you JAZ products for making a great fuel cell). The truck caught fire and took out most of the ignition with it. When I got out of the truck, the truck was on fire and still rolling. When I got out of the truck, I dang near fell on my nose as the rear quarter panel was ripped off at my feet, and I grabbed it and kicked it away so I could get out of the way quicker.
The last few inches of the frame are bent up, and to be quite honest it doesnt need to be backhalfed, but our truck was one of the only few trucks that didn't have the rear frame section backhalfed as we were planning to do this to the truck this winter, helps to lighten it up and relocate the shock mounts to a better location, HOWEVER, We werent planning on building a complete motor along to go with it.
At this time the truck is completely stripped down to the bare frame and is getting ready to go to the sandblasters. We could probably get the truck back out, but I don't want to do it unless I can do it right with nice parts and save the hassle of spending more money in the long run.
The truck will be getting a new motor, backhalf, half a new body, powdercoat job, and lots of new parts when it comes back out. The game plan is to come out in 2009 with an A+ truck, not only in looks but mechanically as well. With that being said, In NO means am I just giving up on the truck, we will be busting our butts on it to get it ready, but we are going to take our time and do it right.
At this point and time, we haven't patched any sponsors for the 2008 season as I am getting some stuff around right now for those who supported and helped us along the 2007 season. The biggest problem is money, we can get it done, just not in time. I'm sure most of you know about this.
Who knows, maybe the right person/sponsor will come along and we'll be out opening night, but very doubtful, but here's to wishful thinking.
Thanks for asking Scott.
