I am located in Kansas and our local 305 dirt series down here is spreading like wild fire its the most affordable sprint car series in the Nation, i think a series up there would be great i would even consider coming up and help support it This series bottom line is affordable open wheel racing... period. We have got to keep the costs down on this class to insure it's growth Its phenomenal growth is due to the affordability to not only the racers, but to track owners and promoters, and has become a win-win situation for everyone…including the fans
I look forward to speaking with any of you in the near future and the possibilities of having Chuck Kirch Motorsports as a part of a 305 Michigan short track fastest growing Sprint Car Series. In closing, if you have any questions or want more information please feel free to contact me at anytime via e-mail
Thank You, God Bless,

Do you guys run any pavement? I think this would be a very interesting local pavement class, maybe even non-winged. I like the motor rules a lot better than the Ohio-style 305s. I bet you could build one of these cheaper than a claimer modified.

I think it would be a good idea around here, if it was non-wing. You would have to play the car count game for a little bit, but I think it would come. I just wonder if a 305 is the right way to go. I've heard the blocks and heads are getting hard to find. Most of the good heads have probably been gathered up by the Ohio 305's, and since their rules allow some porting and polishing those heads would be useless. A good set of 305 pistons are also more expensive since the volume is down. Seems like a similar package using a 350 based engine might actually be cheaper. There are TONS of that stuff around. Just a thought. I heard that MTS might be assisting in a non-wing pavement race here in Michigan next summer. May be a good test to see how the fans react.

we try to set the schedule 50/50 between Non Wing & Wing Shows no we have not went after the pavement market "yet" 1 reason we really dont have alot of pavement tracks down this way close almost all our shows are within 100 miles max
thats another key to this series to keep the cost down the less taveling the series the better
yes the engines are great they can turn 5800-7500 rpm and a team can get 40-50 races out of 1 engine with little maintence they also pull heads on top 3-5 every night you dont know tell after feature and also pull a head off any "one" of the remaining feature cars just so theres no sand bagging, cheating and just to let you know they will
running on the pavement i dont know with the Hard tire rule and there again fighting the Low cost
you can run a whole season on 1-3 RR
another key issue is when you set up the rules set them in stone for 5-10 years thats what makes this series grow like wildfire is a guy knows the rules wont change from /week to week /month to month/year to year "to keep the cost down" another note with the 305's a used 360/410 car works better than a new chassis for it flexes better for the 305 low HP, low torque, hard tire rule
and in closing i believe we are changing the head rule a bit to match the knoxville rules for 2008 so as our cars can run the 305 knoxville nationals and going to expand to 5x5 wings for that WOO has changed there wing rule and alot of 5x5,s will be available cheap i personally like the 5x5 better they look better lol i dont run the 4x4 except on 1/4 mile tracks i prefer the 3x5 ,the car thinks its a 5x5 "when the new rules for 2008 come out very shortly i will post them"
"I will tell you this in one series we had 24 races with 19 dif winners no one dominated, it was tight close side by side back and forth good ol grass roots racing and the Track Owners,Promotors, Racers and exspecially the Fans.........Loved it!"

Wow! the 305 class in texas has grown this much but,That looks like the beginning of the end to me, at least the height of conceit. i do understand his intentions a little bit, it is intended for an entry level class for beginners and/or for the racers that cant afford other more costly sprint car series , and doesnt want it dominated by those other series drivers.

SST (Sprint Series of Texas).
The growth of the SST in north Texas has far exceeded our expectations. Racers have shown overwhelming interest in our race series. This presents us with an unusual but fortunate problem to have. How do we maintain our current popularity without growing beyond a manageable number of cars and car owners?
Without a doubt, we choose to protect our loyal group of drivers and car owners who have supported our series from the very beginning. We will not allow outsiders to enter our series and take away starting positions from our core participants. There will no longer be room in our series for racers who also participate in other 360 sprint classes like the Devil's Bowl, Cowtown, ASCS or WOO racing. Before you consider whether or not to prepare a car for SST competition you should contact me (214-331-4664) for a one-on-one meeting to get a full understanding of the commitment necessary to join our organization. We have room for good people who fit in with our group of dedicated racers. We hope you can be become a loyal SST participant

This would be a fine series to cheat in.Pulling your heads off every night is out of the question.
We can not enforce any rule around here except where you buy tires.
No way that would work here.Who would determine if your heads were milled for repair or compression. Why should one motor have have compression because he needed repair?
This is just one more dream of fair racing. Call it Nightmare racing and who u know counts more than anything in inspection line.
You cannot rule a loser into being a winner. Everyone is not equal in talent or money and especially ambition.
One way to do it is to shoot the winner every week and everyone can be a winner eventually.

Karl Chevrolet to Host "305/Crate Engine" Meeting for Sprint Cars
Ankeny, Iowa (November 14, 2007) – Karl Chevrolet and its GM Performance Parts
division will host a meeting on Tuesday night, November 27th, to discuss the possible use of a GM Performance Parts Crate Engine in 305 Sprint Car competition. The meeting will be held in the conference room at Karl Chevrolet and is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm. All Drivers, Car Owners, Sanctioning Organizations, Clubs and persons involved with 305 Sprint Car racing are invited and encouraged to attend.
"I have been in contact with several persons regarding the possible use of a GM Crate Engine, as an alternative, in these Sprint Cars," commented Chuck Stowe, GM Performance Parts Representative at Karl Chevrolet. "I have contacted representatives from the Midwest 305 Sprint Cars, Midwest Sprint Warriors, Mid American 305 Sprints, Ralph Capitani and John McCoy from Knoxville Raceway; they all have indicated that they will be present. All interested parties are invited to attend this meeting."
The specific engine that will be the topic of discussion is GM part number 88958604, which is an intake to pan engine based on the 350 Fast Burn 350/400 racing engine including: a bulletproof bottom end, anchored by a forged steel crankshaft and hypereutectic pistons. The 23 degree Fast Burn aluminum heads enable tremendous power in the small block V-8 because of a unique design that quickly and completely burns the air/fuel mixture, producing maximum power. Additional tech specs and information about this engine will be available at the meeting.
(Cost is $5,200.00 engine)
Karl Chevrolet is located at 1101 SE Oralabor Road in Ankeny, Iowa. The conference room is located just inside the Accessories Show Room door located on the east side of the front of the dealership. That crate engine when used in LM's require a REV limiter of about 6,300 rpm. and they use a small holley 4 barrel carb, and they run on gas.
Pehaps, If they allow them in 305 sprints with alky, racing Fuel injection (+more power) , and no rev limiter, in a light car,,,they will be turning 7,000 rpm or more and be flat out most of the time.
this may lead to durability problems.
How are they goint limit the revs, and limit the CFM of the fuel injection?
arnold.
PS. Sandusky Ohio ( 1 hr. East of toledo ) runs 305 sprints weekly on a 1/2 mile asphalt oval...

another thing with the set of rules posted above engines are $3500-$5500 we turn 7000-7800 RPM avg 40 races before rebuild with minor maintence there is another 305 series we run KS/MO $17,000 engine not much dif in performance that i can see on the smaller tracks and 16sqr foot wing or wingless you put the smaller wing on hard tire rule or wingless hard tire rule id rather run the cheaper engine now you get on the big 1/2 miles no tire rule 5x5 wing ill take my $17,000 engine the idea of the 305 is low budget if you are going to put $10,000 or more in an engine why bother with 305 go 360 racing and the crate engine Karl Chevrolet is introducing will have the option of carb or injection "undecided" even if it becomes a hit or gets started time will tell i doubt it will replace the 305 class. with the rules i posted is the best bang for the buck ,best racing series 24 races with 19 dif winners no one dominated it was tight close side by side back and forth good ol grass roots racing and the Track Owners,Promotors, Racers and exspecially the Fans.........Loved it!"

Well Bad News,
what started out as a great idea and growing fast has came to a sudden Hault here in Kansas & Missouri all the 305 groups that were working together have now split and are no longer working together, the 2008 rules came out and all are so different in engine rule packages that you now have to decide which series you want to run because they are so different you can no longer run them all so what started out as a 30-50 car count in each event will dramaticly decline to 8-10 cars in each series event if they are lucky,Very sad. not to mention they scheduled races ontop of each other
well anyway i have sold out our sprint car operation and now have a modified operation we will race in 2008 and beyond
