There was an unauthorized "patch" that you could add to your installation that would "hold" the CD key so you wouldn't need the CD in the computer. I don't think you'll have much luck finding it though. First Racing, who owns the code for NR2003 came down hard on anyone making it available. They allow the mods, but anything that messes with .EXE, no dice.

By the way, First Racing is some of the people who started Papyrus, the original game producers, which is also some of the guys who own the Boston Red Sox, and are the "Fenway" in Roush-Fenway Racing.
