They just announced that we will be running on late model 10" slicks, take offs, the deal is the first race you get 5 tires for 150 bucks, you give back 2 the end of the race, and they impound the other 3 till next race, every race after you buy 2 for 60 bucks, 3 times this season they will let you buy 5 again, it should keep the tire bill for the season under 1000 dollars, what do you guys think of that, and do you think any tracks up there would give up the revenue that new tire sale bring

That's an interesting way of doing it. I know Berlin wouldn't do something like this because they are just to damn money hungry. Hell, they won't let the divisions give take offs to less financed teams now!

Interesting in deed

with having 5 tires I would guess that you have to hope you don't have a flat on the side of the car you don't have a spare for. 6 tires would seem like the way to go to me

Other than HAVING to buy two tires each night I like the Idea I would prefer to be able to buy two tires or reuse any/or all of my five tires from the previous week.

you dont have to buy the 2 tires, thats up to you
Armani
cool idea, in my opinion. I think theres no chance a michigan promoter would do that though, too much lost revenue for them.

Might be a good way to keep cars at the track instead of sitting in the garage

Your right Dave, Sherry Clifton who owns Hickory really cares about keeping costs down, she increased the start money to 75 bucks to help with the costs, they are allowing tubular upper A-Arms for 08 also, again because the cost of stock stuff is going thru the roof

There is alot of things tracks do down here to help with costs. Most of the lower divisions require the use of used tires. That being said, i have not seen a race down here yet that compares to a Auto City factory stock feature. They are BAD ASS!!!

They keep us way down on power, 350 2 barrel 72 cc min stock heads 450 lift hydraulic cam heavy pistons crank rods, we are prolly 50-75 hp down from AC factory stocks, and Camaros have to weigh 3400# Montes 3200, but they do allow standard trans, 9 inch rears, with the 10 inch tires they will be fun I think

Flat Rock was running enduros on used hoosiers. I know people were buying new tires, running them on a steet vehicle to make them look used and then having an advantage. How does Hickory police this? Also, how often to they tech the heads to catch alterations? Where do they measure the lift of the cam? Mushroom shaped lifters will give more lift with a "legal" cam.

They impound the tires every week, you cannot take your race tires home, they measure the lift at the spring retainer, and replace the hydraulic lifter with a solid one
