Just wonder If anyone had entertained the thought of running the Mods on a 10 inch tire and wheel, all other rules beeing the same? Comments!

Well the horse is already dead so stop kicking it. We went through this about 2 years ago. I was all for it but then you have guys who think that motor is everything and they start crying about how everyone is going to have to spend so much more money on a bigger motor and then the cost of racing is gonna go up. Not to mention they are gonna say that you are gonna break all of your suspension parts from the force of the grip, which would nt really be a real factor considering that the mods have more force on them when they run Toledo or Winchester. So I can promise you that this is not gonna happen.

All a bigger tire does, is force the need for a more expensive engine, and give the funded teams a big advantage.

I concur. This is going the wrong way, we should be asking for smaller tires last half a season or more.

Actually I'm good with an 8" tire that lasts 4 weeks. I don't want to run on eggshells, that's no fun. Let's at least keep a good 8" tire we can race on. I wouldn't mind seeing a the mods on a 10" slick, but that is for another day.

Do you have proof of this because you are wrong.
No offense, but after finding out that you are one of the guys running a $20,000 motor, I must disregard pretty much everything you say regarding tires, motors, or pretty much anything pertaining to racing modifieds and the cost of racing them.
You wanted a 10" tire because you have a rediculous amount of horsepower that you can't use. That's all there is to it... Same reason why you are against aluminum heads.

Well first of all if you had any clue who I was you would know that I ran one of the cheapest motors out there and still set fast times and won 4 car dashes. The most money that has ever been put into one of my motors is about $4000. It is all about a good chassis setup, and knowing how to drive a racecar. The only reason that I'am against the heads are the simple fact that it is a weight issue. So as far as you finding out about me running a $20,000 motor, you and whoever told you that better start asking people who know me.

The guy selling the motor is selling a car that he says was built for you. No other class of racing anywhere in this state would call for a $20,000 cast-Iron head motor.
So the motor was built for you and you never got a chance to use it? Is this just a coincidence? Tell me the facts...
So back to the loading of suspension components... Where did you get your
Data from? The hardest thing on a Spindle is a sudden sharp turn...Big tracks with big banks put a lot of load on the springs, but the banking guides the car around without applying nearly the side force that a tight, flat track would produce. For example....Take a RWD vehicle and trun the steering wheel all the way against the steering stops. The resistance that you feel is force being transmittent directly into your suspension parts....the ones that break....not the springs.

Actually, MaddMike is quite intelligent, and knowledgeable when it comes to mods, so your statement is probably more on target than what you intended.
More to the point though, why would or do you support the 10 inch tires.
Yeah, they are fun to run on, make the mods turn quick and go quick, (once you can get some heat in them), but, they would encourage exactly what it is that Mike was speaking of, bigger dollars into motors and components to use all of the traction available that the 10 inch tires would give us.
Let us use them for fun nights, the run what ya brung shows. They work and fit in well there.
The rest of the year, keep us on an eight inch that will last for about four or more nights, so we can afford to run our cars without pouring dollars into tires every night.
And, figure out a way to keep soak out of the picture. Though I've no real proof, I will say again that I have followed a car during qualifying as a group that laid nice black stripes all of the way down the back stretch at Spartan with no smoke at all, and repeated it for a few laps, each time the stripes getting lighter and lighter.
That car was running soaked tires, that much is obvious.
Is it prevalent, again, I don't have a way to prove it, but I sure don't think it's as non-prevalent as it is said.
Smaller, harder compound tires, let us figure out how to set up the car, and drive the car through a bifed set up.
That makes mod driving fun.
have a good day,

Thank you for setting me straight. I may have been wrong in saying that it was your motor, however my point of view is unchanged by the new facts. Your, his, theirs.... These motors are out there and they are begging for wider tires to hook them up.
