2008 Flat Rock, Toledo Schedules Set
TOLEDO OH (12-15-07)--The return of ARCA's weekly racing divisions at both tracks and a few changes at each venue highlight the 2008 version of the Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway schedules. The two sister short tracks, just 30 miles apart, will combine their very competitive weekly race cards and a variety of touring series stops to create a very busy season at both facilities.

Toledo Speedway, entering its 49th consecutive season and located on the Michigan-Ohio border and just 6 miles from ARCA's main office, kicks off the new year with the ASA Late Models and USPRO Series Saturday, April 12. The template bodied, crate engine series will see a 125 lap contest for the ASA cars and a 75 lap affair for the USPRO machines on the big .5-mile paved oval.
Weekly Friday night racing gets the green flag May 2 and continues through August 22, with a host of special events to take place on selected Friday, Saturday and Sundays through September and October. The ARCA Late Models will again compete in the Gold Cup Series, which features four-50 lap main events and the 100 lap championship race, which has a Sunday, August 31 date during the Labor Day weekend. The track's signature event, the Glass City 200 is again in its traditional third week of September. The 2008 edition is set for Saturday, September 20 and will mark the 20th anniversary of this prestigious event. Several announcements pertaining to the 200 will be forthcoming in the new year.

The ARCA Sportsman, Figure 8's, Factory Stocks and 4 Cylinders will headline many of the Friday night race cards and will also be a part of several of the special events at the track in 2008. The Sportsman cars will run a trio of 50 lap events, including two of those paired with 50 lap Late Model Gold Cup events. The Season Championship for the class is also scheduled for 50 laps. The popular Figure 8 cars will tackle the Figure 8 course again in 2008, with the Factory Stocks and 4 Cylinder machines in action on the short oval.

Toledo continues to be a must on many touring series schedules, and 2008 is no exception. Noted for its ultra-fast speeds, smooth surface and side by side racing, the Glass City oval will play host to 11 traveling series in the upcoming year. ARCA's RE/MAX Series will again have 2 dates at Toledo, set for Saturday/Sunday May 17-18 and the ARCA Championship weekend October 11-12. Both events are 200 lap contests, with the season finale slated for live television coverage on SPEED. The ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series will compete on the same weekends with a Saturday show on each of the RE/MAX weekends. The Michigan Legends will venture to the track for a pair of dates, while the ISMA Super Modifieds and the Auto Value Super Sprints will trek to Toledo again for the Friday, June 13 "Fastest Short Track Show in the World". The Sandusky, Ohio-based Buckeye Super Sprints, featuring 305 cubic-inch engines, visit Toledo Friday, May 16 and the MSA Super Modifieds have a Friday, July 18 date. The CRA Super Series Late Models will pay a visit to the track Friday evening, August 1 for a 100 lap contest.

The 24 Hours of Lemons Race, conducted by California businessman Jay Lamm, will move from Flat Rock to Toledo next season. The date is Saturday/Sunday September 13-14 for the round-the-clock Endurance race for cars of less than $500 in value.

A pair of School Bus Figure 8 races, a total of 3 Figure 8 Train Races, 2 Rollover contests and the all new Race Car Roller Derby event are also on the new schedule. The annual Live Nation Monster Truck show returns to Toledo July 25/26, while several non-racing type events are also in the planning stages, with dates to be announced when secured. Toledo concludes its activity with its annual general Flea Market and Racer's Flea Market Sunday, October 19.

For 55 years, Flat Rock Speedway's .25-mile paved oval has provided entertainment in the Downriver Detroit, Michigan, area for thousands of race fans. The 56th consecutive season will begin Saturday evening, April 26 with the ARCA Late Models, Figure 8's and Street Stocks in action, the same 3 weekly classes that have been the mainstay of racing at the track since 1977.

The speedway is known for wheel to wheel, fender to fender racing on the lightning-quick ¼ mile asphalt oval and for its wild, high-speed Figure 8 track as cars cross in front of each other at the intersection! Flat Rock averaged over 95 cars per night for just 3 classes and that number is expected to stay steady in the upcoming season.

A few changes have been made in the 2008 slate, including the return of open-wheel racing to "The Rock". For the first time ever, the Buckeye Super Sprints will make a trip to Flat Rock Saturday, August 9. Their race marks the return of an open-wheel show to the track in nearly 10 years. The ARCA 4 Cylinders will again have a solid presence at the track, competing 9 times in 2008. The ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series makes the trip to "The Rock" for a 100 lap event Saturday, May 31, while Flat Rock's Enduro class will see 4 races in 2008, with all events set for 250 laps. A new event, the Level Pebble Enduro/Factory Stock Shootout, is set for Saturday afternoon, October 4. More details will follow soon on this event. The Michigan Legends Cars will make 2 appearances at Flat Rock, while the wildly-popular School Bus Figure 8's have their traditional 2 dates again on the schedule. A Figure 8 Train race, the new Race Car Roller Derby contest and a Rollover contest are also part of the 2008 slate of events. The ARCA Toledo Factory Stocks will also battle at Flat Rock as part of the June 14 School Bus Figure 8 show.

Both tracks have a strong emphasis geared to kids and families. Scout Night, Autograph Nights, a pair of Kid's Nights at both tracks, the Kid's Gold Rush, Christmas in July prize giveaway with Santa Claus and the newly-added All Faiths Night are part of the 2008 schedules. Each track will also host an Armed Forces Appreciation Night. A Wives and Mechanics race day is also part of each calendar.

Flat Rock will also host its yearly Triple 50's and Fireworks show July 12, along with the United Way of Monroe County Night August 16. The Flat Rock Historical Society Flea Markets, held at the track for nearly 40 years, have Sunday, May 4 and Sunday, October 5 dates.

A pair of pre-season car shows have been confirmed as of press time. Saturday and Sunday, March 29-30 is the annual event at the Frenchtown Square Mall in Monroe, MI, and the cars will return to the Westland, MI Shopping Center the weekend of April 12-13. Several other events are being sought at this time.

Open testing days are slated for Saturday, April 19 at Flat Rock from Noon to 5 p.m.; Sunday, April 20 at Toledo from Noon to 5 and Wednesday, April 23 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Flat Rock.

The Toledo office is open year-round and may be reached by calling 419-727-1100.

( Maybe they do read the MSTRC<<< they are giving FR a better web site!)

Flat Rock, Toledo Speedway Bulletin
TOLEDO OH (12-15-07)--On behalf of everyone at the tracks, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! This is the first of our winter bulletins. January issue will be posted around the 15th. The new schedules are also now posted on the website. Flat Rock office is closed; Toledo phone number is 419-727-1100. Please direct all calls to Toledo.

RULES: Changes were sent out before banquet. They are up on the website! Late Models and Sportsman: As I'm sure you know by now, the head/neck restraint systems are now mandatory for you.

WEBSITE: Look for an entirely new and impressive website after the first of the year. Each track will have its own page and will also become interactive. You can use http://www.flatrockspeedway.com/, http://www.toledospeedway.com/ or http://www.arcaracing.com/. More details soon.

TAX FORMS/WINNINGS: 1099's will be sent to anyone earning $600 or more. They are issued to the driver unless you have filed a tax form with us. Call the Toledo office if you need one.

SCHEDULES: There are some changes for 2008. At Toledo, the Gold Cup has 5 point races; 4-50 lap events and the 100 lap championship. Glass City 200 is again an invitational. The Sportsman will compete in 3-50 lap events this season. Check it out for all the details. Flat Rock: The LM 150 has been moved to June 21, while the LM championship is 100 laps. The format and such for that race will be discussed during the season with the teams. We will move the LM, SS and 4 Cylinder championships to the Saturday after Labor Day, a change from the past. This gives us an additional Saturday of weekly racing. The Figure 8 championship will be August 30, which will allow you to go to Indy. We will still run a F8 race on September 6, but it won't be a point race. And for the first time in nearly 10 years, an open-wheel class will visit the track-in 2008 it's the Buckeye 305 Winged Sprints.

FLAT ROCK LATE MODELS: As we discussed, a 2-tire rule will be in effect for 2008. You will be able to run 4 new tires the first 2 nights of racing, plus the 150 and the 100. On all other nights, only 2 new tires will be permitted. More details later.

4 CYLINDERS: We will be using transponders on the 4 Cylinder cars in 2008. We'll have more later on this. We also have a car to rent for the 4 Cylinder races. Please check the website for the release concerning this.

TRACK CHANGES: Toledo will have a new soft drink company in place soon; we are making plans to create an Autograph Alley location behind the grandstands; more on this in next bulletin. Flat Rock: Look for a 6 foot high mesh screen to be in place between the turn 1 gate and the pit grandstand above the concrete wall. The insurance company has been very vocal about folks standing by the wall. This is our solution at the time.

MEMBERSHIPS: have been mailed to drivers and car owners only. If you need more, call the track. 2008 rule books will be sent with your membership when you join.

Car Shows: are on the schedule. We still are working on adding a show at Taylor and in Toledo at this time. March 29-30, Frenchtown in Monroe and April 12/13, Westland. Both of these are confirmed.

Pad Rentals: Will be mailed out in mid-February. 2007 renters will have right of first refusal, but must be paid by the due date or you lose your pad. A waiting list is being compiled at Flat Rock-call us if you have not done so yet to get on the list.

Sponsors: We are working at securing our division sponsors at this time. Announcements to follow soon.

Season tickets/gift cards: Are now on sale-same prices as 2007! You can download the form off the website or call us at the office. Gift cards are just $25 and make great Christmas Gifts, and they're good at both tracks!

2008 Banquet: For those of you that plan ahead, the date for next year is Friday, November 7 at Crystal Gardens in Southgate.

Safety Seminar: For those of you that attended, THANK YOU! Tom Gideon of GM and Randy LaJoie were great speakers and provided valuable information. It was pretty packed-if you have never been to one of these, ask those who do attend-it is well worth it. And the Christmas party that night was a good time. Hope you can make it in 2008. Those dates will be announced shortly.

Again, our best wishes to all of you for a wonderful holiday season. We appreciate your great support and your work behind the scenes to make both tracks what they are today! Our thanks to all of you for being a part of ARCA, Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways.

TOLEDO OH (11-29-07)--It's back! Want to be a race car driver, run some practice laps, qualify against the clock and compete in a feature event? Well, the opportunity is now real as Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway management will once again offer an ARCA 4 Cylinder race car for rent for the upcoming 2008 season.

The program was offered in 2005 and was very popular at both venues. The decision was made to sell the cars, creating several new competitors in the class for the 2006 season and into 2007. Only 1 race car will be available for the 2008 year, but it's a good one!
The tracks have purchased the #22 car from Dave Tanner Racing. In fact, the car won a feature contest in 2006. "It is a top-notch, first-class 4 Cylinder race car," noted Scott Schultz, General Manager of both tracks. "The car is very clean and runs great. Our first shot at renting cars a couple of years ago was a great success and helped the class grow, but the cars required a lot of work. This car is ready to go right now. It was absolutely the best avenue available for us in terms of putting the rental car program back on the track."

The car will rent for $300 per race. The driver is recommended to provide his or hers own personal safety equipment per ARCA rules. However, these items can be provided by the tracks at the driver's request. ARCA members will have the pit pass fee included in their rental fee; non-members will be required to purchase a $30 pit credential for the day of their event.

The division competes at both Flat Rock and Toledo on various dates. The 2008 schedule for both tracks is expected to include 15-18 events total for the 4 Cylinder class. The new schedules will be released prior to the upcoming holiday season.

Bookings will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis after January 1. Interested parties should call the Toledo track office at 419-727-1100. The Flat Rock track office is closed for the season.

Season tickets and $25 gift cards are now on sale for those looking for that special Christmas gift for the racer in your family! The leather/wool ARCA/Flat Rock/Toledo jacket can also be purchased for $275 each. The order form may be downloaded off the ARCA website or call the Toledo track office.

ARCA 4-Cylinder Rental Car Also to be Available at Track's Practice Days
TOLEDO OH (12-3-07)--Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway management, as announced last week, has revived the ARCA 4 Cylinder race car rental program for the upcoming 2008 season.

And now the car will be made available for 10 laps during the scheduled practice sessions at both tracks for just $50 per 10 lap run.
The practice session dates are Saturday, April 19, Wednesday April 23, and Wednesdays May 21 and June 18 at Flat Rock and Sunday, April 20 at Toledo.

"Several inquiries have already been made in regard to having the car available for the practice sessions," noted Ron Drager, promoter of the 2 facilities. "The 10 lap session will be a great way for someone to get the feel of running on the track at speed and may give a person the ambition to build a car and be a part of our 4 Cylinder division." Drivers will be required to purchase a pit pass at the practice they plan to attend.

The car will rent for $300 for each racing event. The driver is recommended to provide his or hers own personal safety equipment per ARCA rules. However, these items can be provided by the tracks at the driver's request. ARCA members will have the pit pass fee included in their rental fee; non-members will be required to purchase a $30 pit credential for the day of their race.

The order form may be downloaded off the ARCA website or call the Toledo track office.

you would prolly be alitte wide still, but im sure you could race there, if you never have raced at FR then you missed alot of fun you can race 2 wide for the entire race, and most of the passing is done up high, you will need some gear though, what do you run in your car now?
racer72
I currently run a 5.75 final but FR is too long of a haul. I'm north of Bay City. I was just pointing that out incase someone else raced one of these chassis.
