I will post updates as I get them as far as sponsorship, and schedule info, and entry forms. This should prove to be one of the biggest modified races in the midwest this season. We are trying to honor the late Sam Faur who was instrumental to the development of modified racing throughout the Midwest. We have tried to schedule a date where most tracks will not be racing modifieds. This should be a great race, with a large number of cars. So please tell everyone you know. Purse is guarunteed whether there are 10 cars or 100 cars, so please make an effort to come, and be a part of this wonderful event. If you would like to sponsor any part of this event, or have questions or suggestions, please contact John Belott at John Belott and Son Auto Purchasing in Mt. Morris,MI.

Thank You

Count me in. Sounds awsome to me. Maybe attracting some out of towners will add some excitement to A-C. I hope cars are really tech'd good.
I will be there with WP#7,my current car and it is the seventh chassis from Sam. We had talked about #8 and a bigger drivers compartment but I guess that will have to wait until my arrival in heaven.
I will put up $100 for who ever passes the most cars to help out some who start further back and have to pass to win anything.

mod4
Dick, Call John Bellot and let him know, he is doing the promoting for this race.
Kevin 05
When you guys say USA rules,, do you mean the tour rules?? with mirrors and radios?? Does anybody know,or should I call John?? Sam and I go way back to the Ionia Fairgrounds days and the 01 car. So I plan to be there.
mod4
Radios are ok, I haven't heard if mirrors are.
mod911
Am I correct in assuming that fab lower arms, stock center link and the 58% or 1000# right side rules apply? I hope the published rules are enforced. Only a 4 inch spoiler and a few other rules will require legal A-C regulars to change stuff to race at their own track for this show.
Again I don't care what the rules are as long as their enforced fairly for all of us.
Leave the radios and mirrors out is my opinion as the are unnecessary and expensive for those who don't already have them. I have them (radios) and do not like mirrors cause people drive with them and don't watch where they are going.
Many will feel they have to have radios and waste money on them....
mod4
Dick, I agree with you on radios and mirrors.
mod911
No right side exhaust pointing out at at the stands either.
MaddMike
They still have that stupid rule in their book? They wrote that rule to keep the decibels down...But it's dumb...

My side exit exhaust that blows "up into the stands" is one of the quietest cars around due to the 2 chamber MUFFLER that I bought for it...

I believe last time I discussed this rule with them, they said they would make a judgement call...

I won't change my car though...I'm not going to be one of those cars blowing 4 feet of flames onto my fuel cell. I also don't like exhaust fumes under my car or in my cockpit.

American Modified Rules, Auto City Speedway Mod Rules, and USA Mod Rules ;That is what was stated at the banquet. I'm sure that once John starts advertising all questions will be cleared up.
mod911
That deal is going south already then isn't it? Pick one set of rules and enforce them so no one has the upper hand. If not I will pick the best of the bunch and put them together which is what I hate to do. I like K-Zoo rule where we weigh in before the feature and not after so I can be light as hell cause if I start out at 2400 I will end up about 2270 after 70 laps. Pick a set now and do not change.
Kevin 05
Dick,, I agree with you on "pick one set of rules" but Fab Lowers are not legal in USA.. I think those rules are the ones that would make the field most egual.. Just because radio's and mirrors are legal doesn't mean you have to run them,, I know it would be a slight advantage for those that do.. And you being around as long as you have should know the easy way to stop mirror drivers,,, It's call the front bumper the next time he looks up and trys to mirror drive you,,, no need to wreck him,, just make him notice.

I would like to know more about this Fast Car Dash that could be $10,000 to win.

If anyone knows I am sure we are all very curious as to the details of that!
HRT187
if all seven fast qualifiers are windpushers...

Here's the windpusher cars that I know of that should be out for at least a handful of races this season:

Tony Brabbs
Joe Hodgeson
Nick Clemens
Johnny Bellot
Mark Abee
Jack Varney jr
Larry Wallace
Dick Maurer
Mike Stenberg
Roger Hunyady
Ryan Caverly
House car?
??? others ???

So if 7 of those cars (show up and) qualify in the top 7, the dash is worth $10,000... Hmm, that sounds unlikely, but interesting. Neat idea. I think I could pull some strings to get 2 of those cars there, for a nominal appearance fee. icon_mrgreen.gif
TT22KH
Okay, what if only 6 are? or 5? Is there a certain dollar amount per Windpusher car? Or if 1 car isn't a Windpusher it goes back down to regular dash money?

I think this could possibly be the most exciting Fast Car Dash ever.....but I want to know a little more about how it is going to work. Or if that has been determined yet, I know this is still in the beginning stages.

Thanks Joe.

Kyle,

This is going to be an awesome big show with the Prolate/ACSS Lipari foods 100 on the same night. Are you guys going to run your ASA car?

Greg

We will be driving the $ windpusher car for this race!
mod4
The mod that Bobby Murany drives at USA Mod races is also a Windpusher.
TT22KH
Well Greg that all depends on money and our schedule. Right now I will say probably not but I'll never count anything out.

I may bring the ole' factory stock out for a run though..........or maybe I'll just go help Joe and Tony out.

Good one, I neglected that one. What ever happened to the car that Kevin McPherson owned? That was a newer model WP.
Clemenskid21
The dash money will not be as big as it possibly could have. The insurance company would not cover the dash at $10,000 because there is no real way to "prove" which cars are actually windpushers, because there are no titles for these race cars. John Belott tried very hard, and it almost happened, but this was a major concern for the company putting up the money, so the idea was dropped. Sorry to get any hopes up, there was a possibility it could have worked out, but in the end it didn't. Either way, this is going to be a great weekend for modified racing in this area, and I hope many will attend.
mod911
It sure will be sweet to have a big race and not have to drive 500 miles. I think the spectators will really love the intensity of a big race and want more.
My car has WIndpushers flame cut into the chassis and I know some other do also

racinray75
Will this be a straight 70 laps? It all sounds great and I am excited! My only question is, how many people have a big enough fuel cell to run 70 laps? Mod races have only been 50 laps for most big races so I only have a 10 galon cell. I know the alcohol cars will certainly have troubles. Any chance of making it a 50 lap race, refuel then run last 20, kinda like a bud shootout? Not trying to change anything just trying to get some feedback.

Ray
cas11
We have a 15 gallon cell and will be able to run 70 (green flag) with no problem.
knr
i cant wait till this one and i run factory stocks its a shootout in the makeing
mod24
does anybody know how to get ahold of Bobby Murany
TMS50

All of the newer WP mods have that stamp in the cross member, but the older ones dont so it would be tough to know for sure. There are a few people who would know, but still the same it would be tough. Some of the cars that Dan built might get confused with Windpusher cars ect. Either way Ill be there watching for sure.
HRT187
Our chevy Bice mod used to get confused for a windpusher all the time. The body work on our new windpusher covers the logo in the frame too, so even then I don't think it's that easy to tell. Since the windpusher dash isn't on anymore it doesn't really matter I suppose.

Let's just hope the race is a success and an honor to Sam. Good luck to all involved.
stinkfist
We will all miss Sam and AJ both. Just talking about them last night. Dont think Eldora trips will be the same ever.
nate
i hope a race this big happens every year at the city....now we need one for the acss, and the factory and the lead sleds...big money brings cars and peaople to the track
