The SUPERPRO Series will be announcing a new process of sealing motors in the next few days....it will be a cap system going over the bolt to be sealed with serial numbers and the SUPERPRO logo on them. It will not only be less expensive for the engine rebuilders to seal a motor but will allow them to use a good grade of bolt. More information will be forthcoming.

GM to continue manufacture of RM sealing bolts
Posted on February 15, 2008 at 09:21:48 am
ANKENY, Iowa (Feb. 15) GM Performance Parts has announced the use of the current GM-manufactured RM sealing bolts will continue, at least for the immediate future.
In an announcement made this morning, GM Performance Parts representative Bill Martens said We have elected to continue supplying RM bolts through June to allow for alternatives to be fully developed and in place. A formal communication will be going out to all normal channels of news distribution, no later than the first week of March.
We felt that as good grassroots racing partners, it was premature to discontinue RM bolts without the benefit of some exciting new options that are working their way through the GM approval process at this time, he added. For the time being: Business as usual, no changes.
From these comments, noted Chuck Stowe of Karl Chevrolet, current GM Performance Parts crate engine competitors and drivers who are considering their use in the future can be assured that GM will continue the production and support for these durable, economical engines built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications.

So if it is cheaper for the engine builder, then they should pass some of the savings on to the racers!!

The new Ford crate engine has the cap system too. I think they showed it in last months Circle track.
And from the way the press release is worded it sounds to me more like they are putting it into the hands of each series as to what system to use.

So how does this effect the other racing series? Are ASA, SuperPro, and the local racing still going to have the same rules or is this SuperPro seal only good for SuperPro?

All certified engine rebuilders have a seal program in place for resealing these engines. ASA started a year ago when they were informed what direction the manufactures were going with this subject.

Terry,
All series are using ASA crate motor rules. Superpro was using the same bolts/seals ASA started out with but, switched early when they found out GM was going to stop the GM seals. Superpro will be tightening the circle of rebuilders so, they can keep better paper work on their seals. I don't know what Auto City and Dixie are going to do. All ASA rebuilders will be recognized by Superpro. Rogers in St Charles is willing to work with Auto City and Dixie using Superpro seals Unless they would like to get their own.
What is Robbie going to do this year? If he is not starting out the season at Toledo, he can always go with us. We could use him.

Thank you for the info.
Robbie is planning on making the Toledo race although we are a bit behind schedule with having to rebuild the race shop and all this damn snow.

What snow ?? I haven't seen a hint of that white stuff.
It was near 80 degrees today, the air con has been running all day and it's been in the 70's all week long. Gorgeous pole barn building and racing weather. You sure its been snowing ? I haven't seen any.
