FROM JAYSKI'S:

Dynos after 150's show Toyota's stronger: Judging from NASCAR’s post-150s chassis-dyno tests, which showed Toyota’s #20-Tony Stewart had at least a 15 horsepower edge at his rear wheels over Chevy’s #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr. in Thursday’s twin races. And Richard Childress’ Chevy engines were about 30 horsepower off the Toyotas, which is some concern in both the Childress camp and with GM officials. NASCAR didn’t post any official numbers, but Stewart’s engine - built by Mark Cronquist, head of Joe Gibbs’ motor shop - pulled around 462 to 464 effective horsepower, according to those familiar with the results. That’s about 15 horsepower more than Earnhardt had and about 30 horsepower more than Chevy’s Kevin Harvick.(Winston Salem Journal)(2-16-2008)

ANY THOUGHTS?

Nascar will let them have it so Toyota can have a better showing than last year,no doubt in my mind. You could see something was going on cause Toyota was a slice last year for the most part but are very fast to start the year.I think smoke has the best chance at the 500 anyway.Just my feeling.

Was it just the Gibbs Toyotas? I think more than just one team needs to be taken into account. A more powerful wizard casts a more powerful spell...So maybe the Gibbs wizard found something.

All the Toyotas are fast though, so it's probably more than just the Gibbs engines... But still I'd like to know if any other Toyotas were dyno'd.

ALL I KNOW IS WHAT WAS POSTED HERE. HEARD D.W. TALK ABOUT IT YESTERDAY DURING FINAL PRACTICE BUT HE DIDNT MENTION ANY FORDS EITHER. DOES SEEM KIND OF LIKE A ONE SIDED STORY WITHOUT MORE INFORMATION THOUGH DOESNT IT?
MaddMike
I just see the possibility for it to be something other than just that it's a Toyota.

Especially if the Hendrick/Childress Chevrolets are 15 hp apart as well.

Also, this is RWHP, so the whole driveline has to be taken into account, not just the engine.

All that said, the Toyotas need to be penalized regardless because I like Chevy better. 3gears.gif

I am pretty sure that I heard on television that the Toyota's are getting a lot more fuel mileage than everyone else to boot.

Alright Laci!

That one freaked me out!

And I'm used to some pretty wild stuff, inside and outside of my own head!

And, I agree with Mike, all Toyota's need to be penalized, just because. Nothing more and nothing less. Just because.

have a good day,

I agree they are bringing lots of $ while the other three are not so well in the $ dept. And it seems that NASCAR is/has become all about the $ instead of the racing. Did you notice there was not a "debris" caution when Kyle was "stinking up the show" late in the race? Funny when a Chevy, Ford, or Dodge has a nice little lead built up near the end there almost always is a "debris" caution to take it away from that advantage they earned or pit strategy finish and make it a tv ratings exciter the green white checker. That last restart was pretty sad also. Tony seemed to have trouble taking off? Let me guess he spun the tires or he just blocked eveyone else who may have had a shot. Biff might have had a chance if smoke didn't give Kyle that head start. It sucks but I keep watching anyway. Until the rest of the other brands come and it becomes street/road courses/and overseas tracks filling the schedule. I hope I'm wrong.
