Full Version: You Ask The Question
Michigan Short Track Racing Club > Series Discussion > NASCAR

Hypothetical situation for you: You are a 'rookie' pit reporter in the NASCAR garage area. Because of the "yellow stripe" you have on your jacket, you know there is no way you are going to get that hot interview with Junior, Jeff, Jimmy, or (insert real hot top 10 driver or crew member name here). With that in mind, with whom would you try to talk and what two to four questions would you ask?

Ricky Rudd,

Who was or is your most inspirational short track driver outside of the NASCAR drivers.

Do you think that with so much safety equipment on and in the cars today, that drivers feel so safe now that they are willing to take more, and possibly foolish chances on the track?

Between restrictor plates and overly long caution laps, which would you rather see NASCAR eliminate.

have a good day,

Sorry guys, I have a feeling that as long as DW is on TV calling the races we will have BOOGITY...BOOGITY.

In fact, I would not be surprised if they don't carve:
BOOGITY...BOOGITY...BOOGITY, LET'S GO RACIN BOYS!
on his tombstone.

For my interviews:
I would first go around and do a sort of survey and ask the same question of any driver I could get and any crew chief no matter what team.
The question would be: "Would you like to have an actual speedometer in the cars for pit road speeds?"

Then after I had gathered and compiled that info I would go to Booty Barker and sit down with him asking:
Why aren't there speedometers for pit road speeds?
Would you like to have an actual speedometer in the cars for pit road speeds?
Has this ever been considered by NASCAR?
