Most figure 8 cars I've seen at a show at one time was 27 or 28 at Spartan for $100 to start & $1000 to win and on lap 2 it got very interesting..100 cars might be stretching it just a little..rj

Could it be the type where new cars come in later as other cars are eliminated?

I don't think it's a misprint. In this weeks issue of Michigan Racing Scene, Larry Loynes mentions 100 lap/100 car enduro.

I would guess that they would be the same as they are for the figure 8s they are gonna run all year. One way to get rid of that old leadsled at the end of the year. lol. i dont know if its a misprint or what but i did rad thats what the schedule has, so maybe, i am interested to see how the do it. I am guessing that it should read 100 laps, but anyway it goes it should be fun. Now i need to finish my car up, so i can go racing on the new track and check it out.

it is no mis print. it will be a 100 lap 100 car event for figure 8's. i do beleive the date is wrong though. i am pretty sure it is for the 2nd of november. i handed out posters for auto city this year and it is on the shedule for then with 100 cars. should be a super great show. i would hate to be the wrecker driver, lol. joe also has two nights of destruction sceduled for this year as well. they are the same as dixies eve of destruction.

If its crappy weather this week I think youll see the fig 8 track go in. I'd doubt he wants to put in in and than have 1/4 mile cars accidentally run on it if there out of control. I also wonder about a 100 lap figure 8 race. it seems like after about 25 at Spartan there are only 2 cars left. I hope they dont open the rules and allow those factory stock fig 8s they run at Spartan.

How many gallons of gas would you need to to run AC's 100 lap f-8 with no fuel stops?
does it take more gas to to run 100 laps on a F-8 track than it would to run 100 laps on the 1/4 mile oval?
when comparing the F-8 track to the 1/4 mile oval, are not the straights longer on the F-8 track?
Also what gear ratios would you use for the F-8 track?
TH350 1st gear = 2.52
Th350 2and gear = 1.52
2.73 rear end X 2.52 = 6.88
3.08 X 2.52 = 7.76

Man Chad, TWO, TWO cars left??? How much ARE you drinking when your in Mason???
Well, I've kept this to myself here, but, while I can't wait to see the Figure 8 put in, and see some action on it, let alone a 100 lap race, I do not know how any promoter can guarantee 100 cars. The ONLY way you can is if you are providing all those cars yourself. HOW can you advertise 100 cars???
In this day and age, you may be happy just to get a good car count, let alone 100 cars for a 100 lap figure 8 race.

Heres a question for you all...
Auto City plans on putting in a Figure 8 track, awesome.
Auto City also has a light pole dead center of the 1/4 mile track with new lights attached, awesome
Now the question is, is this going to be a offset 8 track, or was he not even thinking about the track when he added the new lights onto his light pole?

Im sure that is thought out. I dont think Joe would put a hundred grand worth of lights up without thinking through where they would need to be placed.

I don't know...
The fact is theres a light pole dead center of the 1/4 mile.
If he offsets the track, there will be no intersection...

all i know is i don't want to be around my son when the figure 8's are run. as he has once again taken on the task of being the safety director. if you don't know him by now just watch out for him, he wears a red with white stripes 2 piece fire suit. he tends to get cranky. and he has been getting up for his regular job at 4:00 am and he is working saturdays also. so if you see him and he isn't smiling stand clear. his name is Adam Tolles. I love him, but what can i say he got his temper from me,lol.

I looked at those poles this weekend and the one you speak of is not in the dead center. It is located toward to the rear of the track more, and should not interfere at all with the intersection of the Fig 8, at least not as I saw it.

I brought this question up to Joe Friday night and the first thing he said to me is, "It doesn't LOOK like there is any way a Figure 8 track will go in there, does it Ed", and I said, from my seat in the grandstand, NO, no it doesn't. He said that he looked from every perspective in the grandstands, and he agrees, it LOOKS like the light poles would interfere. It is an optical illusion. Joe hopes for the pouring of the asphalt in May, and racing on it as soon as he can.
I can't wait to see it.

I saw it from the pits and from the pits you can see the light is closer to the middle of the back shoot than it is in the middle of the track so you can see the intersection will be forward of the pole.

I'm just going out on a limb and thinking that somebody at AC considered where the track would go. Come on, let's give people a
little credit.

The pole is just fine. It sit's far off where the FIG 8 track is going. The main thing is don't get excited

I don't think he would of paid all that money. I think he is doing a go job. Put it this way when it is done it will be nice.
