It's probably just Fox's way of avoiding a lawsuit from MLB or NASCAR.

Of all communities to be sympathetic to rain causing a delay, we should be.

They kept it there for as long as possible for those people who do not have FX. I for one would rather watch baseball or any live sport instead of any pre-game/pre-race show. I missed the 1st 1/2 lap. I'm not going to lose any sleep over that.

I missed the first 125 laps and I slept good last night.

Thank God for MRN radio. I kept the tv muted till MRN went to commercial.

I, for one, was very ticked about the intrusion of the rain delayed baseball game into the scheduled pre-race and race time. I was also not happy that the Raceline show that preceeds the pre-race stuff didn't happen as usual and they spent that time still discussing all the major league things rather than racing.

If they really felt they had to show the rest of the baseball game then........haven't they ever heard of picture-in-picture. Mute the sound on the game, put it in a little box in the upper corner, and get on with the race stuff as scheduled. It's not like it was a playoff game or the World Series.

Fox did it perfect to tick off both baseball and racing fans. I turned the TV on late to watch the race and there was the baseball game. Then to make matters worse the game was getting really interesting and with Boston leading by one run in the top of the 9th, two outs, and a full count they switched to the already started race. So I got to miss both the green flag and the end of the baseball game.

I would have at least respected their decision if they would have either stuck with the game for another minute to show the conclusion or cut out earlier and actually show the start of the race.

Didn't bother me one little bit that they over road a hours worth of self promotion, not even a little bit.

I can find out any of that stuff in a million different places, IF I really want to know about it.

The ONLY reason I even was watching it was because of non-stop rain in Toledo, and the cancellation of that program. Otherwise, it would of mattered even less then it did in the first place.

I've said it on here a million times, I HATE NASCAR racing on a Saturday night, HATE it!!! They have NO business going up against local short track racing and basically biting off the hand that feeds you!!! I know, there are the surveys that tell us it doesn't really effect the attendance at a local short track. I say bullpuckie!!! You can't tell me, especially on a weekend like the last one around here, that people may choose NOT to go to their local short track, when they have the option of watching some racing at home. If just one family stays away for that reason, then it has effected it.

I like night racing, no problem with that at all, EXCEPT on Friday, or Saturday. If NASCAR wants to race at night, then race on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday night. I don't care what track it is, if fans know what date it is, they WILL plan accordingly!!! I am sick and tired of watching them go straight up against the very thing that made their stars who they are, a local short track.

They couldn't go to a box in a box, and show the baseball game in the small box in the corner of the screen? Even Granny Sharon is smarter than FOX.

Why thank you mrvids......coming from you that is quite a compliment. blush.gif

Hey BigEd........next time don't hold back so much. We are all friends here, you can tell us how you really feel about Nascar racing on Saturday nights. WoW! blink.gif

I bet Fox has heard from a lot of people on this one so hopefully it won't happen again in the same way. Maybe even the other networks will make note of it for future reference too. We can always hope anyway.

Well Granny, that was nothing. I been harping on that one for quite a while on here. I could expound my opinion even more, but most here have heard it enough over the years.

I just feel it is very wrong to BITE the hand that feeds you, no matter what your doing in life.

You know what Ed? You are on the money. NASCAR should know better. They are just being greedy. They know for a fact that Sat. night races effect the gate at the track. Race fans are race fans, and with a poor economy it is easy to make the decision to stay home and watch a race than to go spend 50-100 bucks taking the family to the races. The fact of the matter is.....THEY DON'T GIVE A SH!T!!! The driver probably would rather not see them hurt local tracks, but the brass could care less. It has been proven to me and time again the bottom line is what they care about. Take away dates from tracks that have been part of the history of the sport!?! Who cares we'll make more money! Allow teams the right to have who ever they can get for sponsorship!?! No way Sprint writes us a check. Screw the teams, so we can make more money! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Unfortunately the commercialism of NASCAR is exactly the reason so many REAL race fans are sick of it. I'm tired of good "older" drivers who may not be GQ enough for cup being given limited to no chance to succeed. the list goes on and on.
TT22KH
They couldn't cut off Yanks/Sox. If it were any other two teams it wouldn't have mattered. I am surprised that they even did what they did putting it on FX.

Rain delays happen. Who really cares about the first 300 miles of a NASCAR race anyway? They just get in line and ride.

These days with this darn COT you got that right, TT22KH.
Dang car sure has made for a lot of boring races. Lots and lots of green laps because it is so hard to drive and get zoned into the track that passing is often not an option. So many of the drivers keep saying. And more green laps mean more commericals and longer commerical breaks which is not what I am watching the race to see. angryfire.gif

The safety features of the COT are great but the rest of the car sucks!
In my opinion, from the fan aspect anyway.
It is just not winning me over as of yet, still needs way too much work.
