I was curious, as drivers, what do some of you think on this topic?

Here is the story on Helton's response to things:

Personally, I think if the drivers are speaking up and saying that they want that reassurance then the oh-so-safety-minded Nascar should be all for a random testing policy. Of course, hiring an outside drug testing company would cost them money, ouch!

But then again what do I know, it is only a 3 ton giant bullet flying around a track at 150-200 mph with thousands of people in a confined area. I am sure there is no danger of any kind, Nascar has it all covered and humans are very good at policing themselves.

It's such a tough call. The guys are already super busy, then to have a guy come over and say come with me. Ken Schrader put it real well the other night.

The policy as it stands works pretty well. If for any reason they think that you need tested your tested. I'm pretty sure that if Jeff Gordon (or insert any other racing superstar of choice) suspected that Tony Stewart was on the juice. He would probably first pull him aside and say hey WTF, if that didn't work he would probably go to NASCAR. Let's face it, there are less problems in racing than any other sport. It's really tough to say how and what this should all be handled. I'd almost say it's worked for years.
