Yeah, hopefully Kyle Busch will not be knocking on the shop door on Monday to finish his "talk" with Steven! beatdeadhorse5.gif

YES!!!!!!!!!, THANK YOU, This is what we needed, Steven has really come a long way this year, All of our hard work over the last 6 months has started to pay off, Steven drove a very smart race, as far as KB is concerned I would love to have a U Tube video of Steven handing him his ASS, Kyle is a scrawny kid with a big mouth, Steven would mop the floor with him, I can't wait to shake his and Davids hand Monday morning biggrin.gif

Kyle couldn't race against himself. All the stuff Steven did that was "childish" was learned from someone like him.

Great run! Tell Steven just to meet him for dinner some night and whoop his a$$.

Good run for Steven, he looked like he drove a smart race, especially that last lap where he could have easily crashed out. Kind of funny how Kyle Busch can hit every car on the track and not think nothing of it, but when he is on the receiving end its a whole different story. Maybe Steven should have drove through him and not let him gather his car back up, afterall that is probably what Kyle would have done. After the race I think Rusty was biting his tongue up in the TV booth. He was being abnormally quiet. Being the father and the car owner I think he might of had a few things to say about Kyle.

By the way, Kyle's tough guy image could use a little work. He should ask Jimmy Spencer to give him some pointers on how to kick some butt.

I haven't seen any replays yet but could the contact between Wallace and Shrub have something to do with Shrub roughing up Wallace at ( I think) Vegas?
fed-up
Great run. I would hope that Steve and Kyle are over it by now, if they werent already after 5min. of cool down time. After all they were just showing a little emotion that we all beg to see. Good race though, the NW races are way way better than the Cup races. JMO

Yeah, awesome job for the team!! I was in Virginia and watched the race on TV. As soon as Kyle hit 'em, I figured there would be a crocodile tear trail that would stop near Stevens car. I am glad that Wallace didn't take any crap from Kyle. Especially when Kyle doesn't need to be in the Nationwide series to begin with. I would be irate too if a cocky cup driver came up after the race and told me that I needed to learn respect when he is running in MY series. Kyle's walking around invincible at this point and I don't think it will be long before someone knocks that chip off of his shoulder.

Well the Cup Invasion of the Nationwide Series is worse than it has ever been, the competition is at a all time high, It feels good to know that we are now in the ballpark with our cars, they are very nice cars, some of the best Built in the Business it is a pleasure to work for RWR (most of the time) and I certainly never forget where I came from and all the friendships I made in Mi racing

Backed it up with a top 5 at Darlington. Way to go!

Bruce,

about how much does it cost to put a busch ( i know, but it will always be the busch series withme) car on the track?

and how does that compare with a winston cup car?(i know but i refuse to call it the latest)

I know that the costs for NASCAR back in the late 90's were:

Cup - $ 10 Million ( Rudd started RPM motorsports with his Tide sponsor for 8 mil ).

Busch - $ 1 - 1.5 million

Trucks - $ 500 K

I have no idea what their budgets are now. The big teams ( Gibbs, Hendricks and Childress ) are spending 15 - 20 mil a year for one team.
Childress employs over 350 people in his organization alone. Imagine the payroll costs ? A few of those positions are very high paying. $ 500 K - a Mil a year.

Kulwicki won his championship on a shoestring budget ( he was one tight dude ). He spent a million that year. icon_smile.gif

I do know that the costs have really gotten out of hand. You would not believe just how expensive one testing session is. Astronomical. If one looks back, these high costs were ushered in along with the multi car teams. Roush, Hendricks and Childress brought in the large engineering staff, specialized employees, etc. and thats when costs went through the the roof and why single car teams can no longer compete.

It will be interesting to see what Bruce has to say about the costs today. I have lost track myself but I am guessing its 20 million a year for a cup team capable of winning and 5 - 8 million for a BGN team. Trucks probably 2 mil.

While I don't know exact figures for this year, Last year was 7.5 million for 1 car 1 season, i have heard 14 million for our 2 car effort this year, Cup teams start at 20 million and it goes up to prolly 30+ Childress said he won the Busch championship in 06 with 4 million, but alot of costs for a team like that are absorbed by the the infrastructure for the Cup Teams, At a team meeting last year Rusty said it cost about 200K per race, and that would have been enough to run a competitive Cup team just 6-10 years ago, We have 3 engineers at RWR, Its really getting expensive and the turnover of employees is staggering, I have been with RWR for a little over a year, Today we have about 35 employees, Mechanics and Fabricators and only 1 has been here longer the me????? they have replaced everyone, from the top down, I think my job is secure, But If we start having electrical issues....I would be gone
chris
Team members used to stick around for a while but today, you have the Roush's of the world stealing talent from the other teams with higher salary offerings.

It isn't all buddy / buddy and friendships in the garage area. Teams steal sponsors, crew members and sometimes drivers.

Childress once told me and I quote " when I see a member of my team talking with a car owner, I often wonder how long before he asks for a raise or is jumping ship ". It is cut throat as hell in NASCAR.

Of course with all the money that is invested in these teams, poor performing crew members are history....quickly. They cannot afford screw ups and failures that cost them big dollars and make their sponsors unhappy.

Wow. I just reminded myself why I do not miss this world. In some team positions, NASCAR can be fun but in many, its a HUGE pressure cooker and typically burns you out after a couple years.

thanks bruce and chris for your input.

i guesss strating a nascar team for my son is not within reach at this time. LOL

I was very happy to Meet Mike Findlay (Duff) and his family last week, Mike was someone I had "talked to" on MSTRC but never actually saw face to face, They came to RWI and got to see our shops and meet some of our employees, This offer is good to any Club member, if you are ever in the Mooresville area and want to see our operation from the inside just drop me a PM and we can set it up....Bruce
