Buy an Optima and charge it every week. If that doesn't work you have an electrical issue somewhere.

Turn the headlights and wipers off.
It should last all night on a full charge if you are just running the ignition.

none of that is a problem with a good battery.

I would agree w/Maddmike,
sounds like you've got something shorting to ground somewhere.
Eliminate all but the necessary wires. Too often, many just cut and trim and rip.
Check to be sure you have only what wiring you nedd.
Anything else is trouble waiting to happen.
have a good day,

A good battery and use good cables and ends. Make sure all wiring is the biggest wire you can use. Take a charger to the track and charge the battery between races. Slow charge it during the week and only fast charge at the track. Make sure the battery is a high cold cranking amp battery. If you can run an alternator. We used to run one in the 4cyl and had a switch to turn it off to gain a few extra hp during the race and turn it on under yellows to charge the battery. The amount of hp you gain by not turn ing the alt is overcome by the end of the race with the drain on the battery and you will be down 20 hp just by the drain on the battery and the gain in the weight will not affect the car.
