Gavin,
I mount and fill with regular air, then use an old ac vacum pump to pull them down and refill with nitrogen.
You will need to make sure you have them seated good and watch how much vacum you pull before they un-seat, or you will have to do it all again.
I get 1/2 of the season out of 1 bottle as long as the bottle gets turned off each time.
I know you will use more for the Sprint tires, but the vacum / fill system will save a lot.

Just so I get this right, you mean you're just not using the tank to blow them up on the bead? That was pretty much my plan. The beadlocks make it easier too. I was gonna use a ratchet strap instead of a pump though (easier with wider tires I imagine)
Saving the nitrogen out of a tire is a neat idea... I like it. (glad I thought of it) I wonder if the inlet side of a pancake compressor could be used to suck air out of the tire and save it, or out of one tire and into another. A bit eccentric, but sounds like a fun project for slow days in the lab.
I can run bleeders too, so I'm not super worried about having 100% nitrogen. I have a dedicated dry line on the shop compressor that I use for tires.
In general this is part of my plan to have a completely self sufficient trailer, meaning no generator, and no compressor. I'm thinking that this tank is gonna burn up a lot quicker than I planned. Its amazing all the stuff that'll run off an old fork truck battery, and how quickly it'll charge with a solar panel.
