Congrats to Scott Hantz tonight, he bested a field of 19 cars. John Grega second the the Indiana legend Larry Zent third. On the positive note, this was my first trip to Dixie since 1982..... Yes a long time.. I love the new track and the facility is awesome. Now the bad note, was $18 to see 19 cars....... just didn't seem right to me, but it was good racing. Yes I admit I'm a dirt racing fan but stayed close to home due to fuel prices. for 10 dollars I could've seen 35 to 40 UMP Late models at Oakshade. Please don't take it the wrong way, I still loved the racing at Dixie.
Now another note or question: What has happened to HOWE Racing. I grew up Idolizing Ed Howe and it pains me to see Howe Chassis not fare well at what should be a home track for them. Port City has got it together. Steve Suave was lapped twice and I was shocked about that, due to everything I've read about how great he has been. So we need something to get the Green Hornet back.
Also....I have never understood why chassis makers allow house cars. Obviously they are the best but my opinion you take money from your current or potential customers. Maybe have a house car... but let your customers drive them at certain tracks or donate the winnings to your top chassis brand drivers. Once again just an opinion.
Anyway I did love the new track........gone are the days of Joy Fair, Mike Eddy, Ed Howe Jim Terrill and Pete Weiss duking it out on the quarter mile, but man do I have fond memories.
Once again Congrats to Scott, John and Larry for a descent show, and to Mike Kern for a top notch facility.

Thanks for posting. I came online at 1230 am hoping someone would write.
Man, I can 't remember the last time I saw Larry Zent drive. Maybe an Iceman race at Baer Field, but I admit, he's from Indiana and I don't track those tracks ... so maybe he still races down there now and then.
Hope we have more than 19 cars tonight at Toledo's Gold Cup... But we only have a 50 lapper.

Steve Sauve was in a front end crash at auto city friday and i never thought he would fix it in time for the race saturday, the racer in those guy's is remarkable,i was not at dixie but for him to just be there, incredible. It is sad to not see HOWE cars running good but they don't seem to care about outlaw supers, just sell parts to them and build template and modified stuff but you would think that HOWE would want to win but right now PORTCITY chassis is the better choice.Maybe howe could help a couple customers but they seem to live on old set ups and what customers tell them, not develope new chassis or updates to the old ones.I think house cars are good for the manufacturer because you build a car with new equipment on it,roll centers or front end geometry, try to make it work and when it does work you can sell it knowing that it works instead of just selling stuff you feel it should work then the customer works hard to make it do anything and spends a lot of money then ask them what they did, that is WRONG,let the chassis manufacturer design, build and test then if it's better than the last chassis start selling it to the racer

Steve didn't fix his car, he was driving Dr. Bob Ducharme's black #97 at Dixie. He is supposed to race that car in the Toledo race today also.

Mark is right, there was too much damage from the accident at Auto City to fix before Saturday's Dixie Cup race so the decision was to race Dr. Bob Ducharme's car at Dixie.
The plan is for Steve to drive Dr. Bob's car at the Toledo Gold Cup races and he will probably drive his own car at the Glass City 200 this year.
Steve was just happy to have Dr. Bob's car to race at Dixie after Friday nights Auto City race that took a car that set fast time and put it out of commission for Saturday night. Dr. Bob's car was more set-up for Toledo and in due respect to Steve, has very limited seat time in the black #97 of Dr. Bob Ducharme. The only practice was on Thursday in it at Dixie and then on Saturday night.
Give Steve some seat time and practice in that car of Dr. Bob's and he will get it to the front.

Just not enough time to change it over for Toledo for Sunday. Last minute deal to just have it at Dixie on Saturday. Steve will get his car back together and Dr. Bob's car will race at Toledo unless another incident happens like this past week. They did some changes on it to make it ready for Dixie and Steve still needs some seat time in it and try some things with it to get it more competitive.
This is what happens with back to back to back races and trying to run two cars. The accident at Auto City really threw a wrench into the plans.
As most of you know on these cars, it takes a ton of work to get them ready for one race and its hard to go with volunteer crews and a busy Memorial Day weekend.
Sauve plans to have his own car back and ready for the next Dixie Cup race on June 14th.

Just a little FYI, it seems to be the same in the ASALM's -- Port City and Lefthander seem to be doing most of the winning in that series also.

hasn't a howe chassis won the asa late model challenge series the last 3 or 4 years?????????? waltom racing and i cant remember who they sold out too; didn't they win the championship last year?

That would be Stephen Leicht, Kelly Bires, and now Travis Dassow. He has won the Challenge division. Trent Snyder won the ASA North Series last year in a Lefthander Chassis (I could be wrong, but pretty sure its Lefthander)
A majority of the cars are Lefthander and Port City this year it seems to be, I'm sure theres more Howe cars then accounted for by myself, but it just seems to be that way.

I think PCR has been beating up on Howe cars for a while. Especially in the outlaw type racecars. Wow Larry driving?! No hired gun needed huh?! JMO Dont all you green hornet guys have a cow!

Hi All. I'm a newby to this board. Great forum and topics. As a longtime Super Late Model fan I thought I would add a couple of updates to this thread. Boris Jurkovic won a CRA (template Super Late Model series out of Indiana) race at Illiana on June 21 with a HRE chassis. At the Late Model Jones outlaw race at M-40 last weekend, Doug True won the $ 10,000 to win 100 lap race with a HRE chassis. Two recent big victories for The Green Hornet fans.
