Full Version: Toledo Congrats to Paul and Kyle Hayden
Michigan Short Track Racing Club > Race Tracks > Pavement Tracks

The Gorilla team was at Toledo today watching the races and wanted to say what a good job that a couple friends did. Paul Freeland finished 8th (I think) in his feature.

Kyle Hayden was awesome in the ASA feature. He ran a very smart race and finished 9th (I think). Kyle was very impressive and held his own with a very strong field of cars. I think that Kyle started 24th and made a steady move to the front. He will be someone to watch as the season continues.

Congrats to the Mod guys as well; Nick C, John B, and Greg F.

i completely agree. with it being his first asa race he did an excellent job. he showed very good patience and kept his nose clean. he avoided a couple of wrecks that could have been disastrous. congratulations on a great finish.

Congrats Kyle!

You made us all proud! It was nothing but a honor to be wearing the #96 on the back of the headset in the spotters stand this afternoon!

Way to go!

Does anyone know how Cale Azeltos (i dont think that is spelled right) did in the modified feature?

Proud is actually an understatement for how I felt watching him run those 125 laps!!!

If that doesn't get your confidence soaring from this point forward, nothing will. I think you may have been down on yourself after not making the first two races, but you have proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that YOU belong out there with those guys. What a very smart, and patient race you drove. You would have never, ever thought that you had never drove that distance before.

I believe this is just the very start, of a lot of good things to come to you Kyle. Very impressed, and very proud!!!!!

Wow Kyle! Good job bro.

Yes good job Kyle!!!!

I am not sure which was more fun watching you work your way to the front or watching Big Ed in the stands cheering you on!!!!!!

Great job!!

Wow......that is all I can really say about the whole weekend.

There are so many people that deserve thanks. My Uncle Tim and my grandma and grandpa Priebe for making everything possible. My dad for helping work on the car at the shop. Big thanks to Kyle Callahan for helping out every weekend on the car for no pay or anything and doing a great job in the spotter's stand. Huge thanks to Robbie and Ted Johnson for helping us make the car faster, and to Robbie for coming to Toldeo this weekend and helping out. Thanks to my mom and my fiancee Jamie and my Aunt Karen and cousin Allie for coming out and supporting us all. Also thanks to Jeff and Bill for making it out to the track to help out also. And thanks to Big Ed and Linda and everyone in the MSTRC cheering section for all of their support also.

For my first real late model race, my first race at Toledo, and my first race over 50 laps, I think it turned out pretty well!!

Thanks to everyone in the MSTRC for your support and kind words!!

You're welcome Professor!

I am having just as much fun in the spotters stand as you are in the car! (Okay, maybe not!) but for real, it's a lot of fun and I appreciate you even asking me to do it for you, I've learned quite a bit and am expecting good things out of you man in the future! I'm just glad to be part of it!

Yes, Kyle you did an awesome job Sunday! And the people in your head were awesome too (Uncle Tim and Kyle). Lol. And thanks for mentioning me in your post! And I wouldn't have miss that for the world! I just can't wait to see you race again!!! Maybe next time I could help those guys push the car! LoL! You know they need it! biggrin.gif

Thanks for the compliment, Allie icon_smile.gif

I did what I could to help, got through a few close calls on wrecks, but without The Professor behind the wheel, it wouldn't have been possible!!

Wow! You guys are awesome! I have never been so touched than I am right now seeing all the MSTRC support. I, too, think Kyle did an awesome job on Sunday, but I just thought I was partial. He not only passed a lot of cars, but he stayed right up with the lead pack and made me very proud. Thank you very much to everyone that has supported Kyle in his racing efforts. Balancing two jobs, college and two race cars and a very understanding fiancee is not an easy task! Best of luck to you at Lacrosse son!

Kyle,

Yes, it was a good run you had Sunday. Solid, clean and steady. Your patience paid off for you.

Man, what a long day that was. Glad to hear that Josh Nelms is in better shape than his car, man what a viscious hit he had. Also shows how well the car was built.

The ASALMS race was good, had a nice long green stretch of racing.

The mod run was pretty good racing, with action throughout the field. Attrition took out some cars who had unfortunate meetings with immovable objects, but overall, the racing was good.

I apologize to all of the MSTRC members that were there in the grandstands that day, Mary and I kept trying to make it over to the grandstands to say hi, but everytime it seemed we would find enough time to make the walk, something came up that kept us in the pits.

I know Mary at least a few times told me she could see Big Ed cheering Kyle on from across the track, and Hollywood did a fine announcing job. Still find it amazing that he can walk the front stretch introducing drivers without notes in his hand, that is his unique calling card and it works well.

Nice of Hollywood also, to run through the pits after his long day to make it a point to say Hi to Mary and I, and also of Big Ed and Linda, who made it a point to walk through the pits when he arrived to say Hi to all. After two long days of announcing, he could have easily said he was just going to sit and spectate for the afternoon, but that just isn't his style either.

Both are great at what they do, and recognize the importance of keeping in touch with drivers, fans and all, even when they aren't "working'.

Overall, Toledo was a good time, and both Mary and I were replete and filled with enough racing to last us the rest of the week until race time this week.

have a good day,

schinde

Nice job Kyle, had a lot on our plate and couldn't get around back to say high, but for your first run at Toledo you drove a very smart and great race. Keep it up through the rest of the season. See Ya!
