Full Version: Crystal Gets In Half Show!
Michigan Short Track Racing Club > Race Tracks > Dirt Tracks

A sure way to jinks the races is for me to post on the website that the weather is fine. The evening's event was called at the end of the B Mains as rain, lightening, and the promise of more of the same rolled in. This sets the stage for double A Mains for next week on Spring Championship Night! Double the action and double the drama! Next week will be a 'can't miss' deal!

Saturday night at Crystal Motor Speedway nearly had it all; six divisions of racing, a ‘steeple race’ featuring the ‘faster pastors, menacing ministers, and racing rabbi’s’ of the area, another large crowd, and a huge light show by Mother Nature. The only thing it didn’t have was a completion. Just as the final lap of the final semi-feature was being run, the rains began to come down, ending the night’s events that had been sponsored by area Auto Value Stores.

The missing features will be run first thing next week and will directly affect the lineup for the Mid Season Championships which is next weeks big event and will be sponsored by Crystal Micro Systems. All six classes will run two features plus the 2nd annual “Twin Flinn” race. This special race gets its name from the way it is staged. Participants will be given an ‘A’ or ‘B’ status, with ‘A’ cars going one direction around the track and ‘B’ cars running the opposite direction… at the same time. ‘A’ cars will be encouraged to stay on the low side of the track and ‘B’ cars will be encouraged to stay on the high side of the track but obviously to pass, one must change lanes. Last years event saw no one in the crowd still seated during the running of the race.

Gates open at 4:30 PM and racing begins at 7:30 PM. Adult grandstand admission is $10 while kids 5-11 are $4. Pit passes are $25. Further information can be had by calling the track at 989.235.5200 or visiting the website at crystalmotorspeedway.com.

LOL... sorry...I'm old. This is most likely the last year I do the website. Since the inception of the site back in 1994, I've been the only webmaster. I kind of feel like Tom Landry of the Dallas Cowboys. My eyes are getting so I can't do 'fine' work any more. Glasses don't help any more. HTML is hard to do when you can't see the stuff. It will be very difficult for me to give it up as I have so many email friends. Heck... I get tons of questions about I-96 and I haven't worked for them in three years.

there was some badass lightning at I96 too, we were standing in the back of the trailer watching like it was fireworks or something. I musta saw 1000 strikes on the way home... my eyes actually hurt from staring into the rain so hard with the lightning flashing.

I'd still be on the road if it werent for rainx... man that stuff rocks.

Rain X windshield solvent does almost as good.

There was a flash so bright when I was walking through the pit area I couldn't see in front of me for that second.

They hurried, just didn't make it.

Gavin,

Sounds like I (actually Mary) made the right call to work on my brother in law's truck Saturday night.

First plan of the day was to take my mod to Springport to get some laps in prior to R&R, but the day's events took me much longer than expected, by the time I was ready to load the car, I noted that it was a little after five. So, there went that plan. (Mary said it was going to rain anyway)

So then, instead of making myself regret not making a late show up at Springport and not having enough time to even sort the car out, I then thought of going to I96 to watch the SOD's, figured you would be there and have wanted to watch you run the dirt.

Talked it over with my wife, she said it was going to rain, I said no, she looked at me and said, "It is going to rain, and Bob needs your help."

That's all it took, and as usual, she was right.

So I sat in Eaton Rapids working on the truck and watching the lightning show too. (Could hear the mod's in the background, which only made it worse)

Where are you running on the dirt next?

have a good day,

schinde
