Just purchased a 86 Mustang 2.3L with the 1BBL carb. All the emmisions stuff is pretty much junk, froze up from sitting, and is robbing the car of power. I would like to switch to something different, like a holley 4412 or any other aftermarket carb. My question is do I need to switch intakes, can I just use an adapter on the current intake? What is the best option for street driving and what is the process?

Hello I would simply take the existing carb to Lawsons on dort, they do a really good job on motorcraft carbs

The older 2,3L had a progressive type 2 barrel.Early 80s work good. Also you can take a efi intake off the newer styles and bolt that on.They have an adapter plate you can buy and then a Holley350 or 500 will bolt right on.

Go to 4M.net see if they still have a classified section or if Trashperformer is still a member he runs a junk yard in Minnesota bought a progresive two barrel from a mid 70's for $30 $7 to ship and $15 for a rebuild kit . Be care full the carbs off Omni and Horizons will not work. Progressive Two Barrels are use by people with sand rails on VW motors and people like to call them that when their not because they are more valuable. http://www.4m.net/

the names trashperformance and he is in Wisconsin good guy probably help out

this link is for what they are calling a holley webber two barrel only one photo that i see $31 is pretty cheap
